Driving through Lemoyne I spotted this store and decided to stop. There were two gentlemen outside enjoying cigars, and as I approached the front of the shop, they stopped me to ask what I was looking for. They seemed guarded, but they opened up when I told them I was looking for vintage philatelic collectibles. I chatted with one gentleman while the other stepped inside to grab a flyer. When he returned, he explained that he has some things I might be interested in, but they are not on site, and asked that I give him a call in a week.
All of this is fine at face value, but what rubbed me the wrong way was how I was greeted when I arrived, and the general tone of the rest of the interaction.
Right at first sight, before I had even spoken a word to them, they stopped me from going into the store. The rest of the conversation felt more like an “interview” for them to judge whether I was worth their time as a customer. Just the demeanor… I felt like I was being spoken down to or sized up, not welcomed as a fellow collector or enthusiast.
Ultimately, although the fellow out front did invite me to contact him in a week, I was never allowed into the store - this entire interaction took place outside and I never got the chance to look inside. Again, just an overall unwelcoming experience.
These gentlemen clearly have knowledge and experience, but it is my assessment that they are unwilling to share that wisdom with the next generation of collectors. Maybe steer clear of this place if you’re under 50.
Update: based on the response from the business, it is clear that management at the shop is not open to learning from customer experience or feedback. Reviews at this shop consistently mention rudeness. If it wasn’t ageism, as the shops response suggests, then I can only assume the unwelcoming attitudes must be a universally applied protocol here. If the person I met was not the owner, it might serve the owner well to choose better representatives for their business.

Read moreWent here one time and will never go back again. The guy working there was very rude and disrespectful. I believe it was actually the owner. Prices are very high. I know other people who have said the same thing. I would not recommend anyone to shop here. Don't even waste your time. There are so many other places in Central Pa that are far better to spend your money at. A couple of places I deal with are Ken's coins in Linglestown, and Eckenrode is another good place a little pricey but will buy and sell no matter what spot is at or doing. KEN'S is my go-to for the best price around 90% of the time. I don't normally waste my time writing 1-star reviews, but this place was so bad that I feel compelled to make sure people are aware. Do not make the mistake I did and waste your time with this place. If I could give a lower rating, I would! The photos are just a few of the pieces that I picked up from Ken's. This place lost on a bunch of money that just walked right out of their door. I hope this review is helpful to other stackers and...
Read morewent in in hopes of selling some of my silver and was immediately dismissed because I was a girl I was laughed at aswell. I sent my husband in a few days later and his transaction was successful. discriminatory.
Also heed the other reviews, the owner only response to the negative one and put himself as a victim in every situation. Almost every negative review that has been written about this establishment he has replied and said that it was your fault and had taken no ownership for his actions. He is also tried to get negative review givers to take down their negative reviews....... which isn’t how it works he got the reviews he did because the service was poor. And clearly is the majority of the reviews he is getting or bad and repeating the same stuff and clearly he’s doing something wrong
