This place is horrible, worst service in years. Took my son there for comic books. My son was taking awhile, so I guess they decided to help out. My son purchased 3 books but only wanted 1. My 10 yr old came out to the car visibly upset. Said he felt pressured to buy, cause he's 10 ,duh. My wife was with while I waited in car. Wife takes undamaged books with receipts back to store. 3min later and was told won't take returns. I go in and ask to see where in the store said policy is, was told they don't need to display a return policy. Exchanged some heated words informed them of taking advantage of children was trash and won't be back. If these precious books are not new once sold why even let the kids touch them in the store I can't believe that a book walking out the door and back would lose its value . How do they ship them in golden crates. Do comic book collectors keep track of how many people touch the plastic cover on a day? This business is horrible in my opinion. When dealing with children they should be aware of the rules. When I was a little older than my child we went to a blockbuster I purchased a set of old movies took them home watched them. Didn't like them and returned them. The manager asked what was wrong. I said they were stupid. This lady took the time to explain to me that this wasn't their policy, but since I was a first time customer they would let it go this time. Clearly some businesses understand communication. I don't know why this person would bring up a return policy when they themselves state that we came back in 5 min. Not enough time to read 2 comic books then return. The books were not opened and in pristine condition. The cost of the books was 7 combined. Which my child paid for with money he earned working for his uncle. This person states he showed my son other books. My child was looking at funk o pops when this happened and what do you know being a child and overwhelmed felt pressured. As to me acting like a thug yep any person who hustles my child out of 7 dollars deserves to be treated like trash. Really this business couldn't have taken the high road on 7 dollars from a child? Many other businesses state there return policy for all to see. And again 7 bucks from a child that could have been resold easily because there was no damage and was not removed from package. My child probably would have bought a funkopop instead which is what he was looking at and more expensive. But hey enjoy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHands down, the absolute best game shop or comics shop for miles around. We discovered Comics Metropolis a little over a year ago and have been back many times since. The shop is bright, airy, well lit, and meticulously clean - it is clear that the owner cares very much about the shop and customers' shopping experience/safety in today's COVID-19 world. There are dedicated parking spaces on the side of the shop so you don't have to deal with parallel parking on the street or searching for downtown Lewisburg parking. The layout of the shop is spacious and well organized, with board games, comics, and action figures galore. Seriously - TONS of comic books and plenty of games to check out. We didn't even know about the comic book drawers until recently, and discover new comics/games every time we visit. There is also a dedicated gaming space in the back room, and we've met many new friends through the shop's gaming community. The owner, Albert, is friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and always willing to take the time to look things up for us or check to see if he's able to order/pre-order items that we're looking for. He's also definitely given us some great recommendations on games to try or new products coming out that he thinks we'd like, based on our past purchases and conversations. My favorite thing that I've noticed is that Albert/Laura make it a point to try to anticipate what we're looking for and order it or have it in stock before we even have to ask for it! Totally blows my mind - what other store would even do that?! Absolutely no pressure to buy, but when we went through a phase where we were collecting Arkham Horror expansions, playing through the 'Unlock' series of games, or when we started investing in a new Warhammer Army, we miraculously found the next products in stock the next time we visited so we could check them out - major brownie points for awesome customer service there! We made it a point to stop by this year during Free Comic Book day and were surprised by the amount of free stuff available - we expected each person to get a free comic book handed to them, but there were two tables filled to capacity with free comics for all ages, and free posters, etc. Definitely one of our absolute favorite shops to visit...
Read moreWhile the store's layout and displays are definitely aesthetically pleasing, the employees were lacking. When myself and four of my friends visited we were welcomed by life sized figures on the stairs leading to the upper floors and two rooms. Myself and two of my other friends went to explore the minis while the others went to the comics. There was no one in the store prior to our visit and there were only two employees working. One of which started vacuuming about halfway through (not that I mind, of course. the store was practically deserted.) and the other asked us "do you need any help?" around 3 to 4 times whilst meandering around the store. She was keeping a very keen eye on us, as if she expected us to steal something? We eventually migrated to the comic section and started to talk and browse. Upon her asking if we needed any help for the second time, i decided to grab a sleeve of Pokémon cards to buy to hopefully smooth over any tension (???) we had created. It didn't work. a few minutes later, she approached us and told us that "we need to keep things moving along and we have things to do." almost as if she couldn't entertain the idea of teenagers coming into a comic store to browse. One of my friends was still looking for something to buy, and after myself and three of my friends left, i can only assume he was "politely" asked to leave as well. This is definitely an interesting way to run a...
