OMG. I just saw an entire daycare group being greeted and welcomed in by the owner. It was obviously a field trip of some sort and it was the MOST adorable and heartwarming thing that I've seen with a downtown business since I was a kid. That's the stuff that I remember and how this town always centered belonging and took care of each other. Totally brought a tear to my eye. I was in my car at the light watching it unfold. Delicious. I've been eating Alee's food at the farmer's market the past few years and I'm so glad he has a place of his own now. His dolma (grape leaves) are out of this world. Other favorites are the Lulu paste and baba ghanouge. I didn't even think I liked baba ghanouge till I ate Alee's. The Bulgarian feta cheese doesn't even taste like it's the same thing from the grocery store, the flavor is so full and tangy. Bonus points that Alee himself is a wonderful person and always remembers his customers.
