Was kind of surprise to see so many good reviews on this place! We walked past Saffron a few weeks prior and it was closed but looked at the menu and wanted to try it out. Sorry to say it was not very good. I called to make a reservation, come to realize itās only open 5-8pm! We were coming from out of town so did our best to arrive by 7 per request along with a request to pay cash. Who really walks around with cash anymore?! So we got there and thought the place had a cozy atmosphere but tables were super close together where we felt we had to whisper. We were given menus and our waiter told us there were multiple items sold out which didnāt leave us too many options. We went there hoping to try the paella and that was only being offered as a seafood stew with no rice to accompany it! Kinda strange no? I ordered the sea bass special that came with mussels and shrimp. The meal was not even hot, it was over cooked, the shrimp was in the peel and tails on. Too much work to eat in my opinion. No bowl was given for our shells. My daughter ordered the seafood stew and the waiter(who had never worked there before tonight but was fantastic) said the chef would serve it with rice. We received the dish with no rice! He took the plate back to the kitchen and a very small amount of rice was put under the stew. My husband ordered the filet mignon and it was his response was āit was alright!ā My other daughter orders the beef bourguignon and that was pretty good. Iāll leave on a positive noteā¦the octopus salad appetizer was excellent but unfortunately donāt think we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: went to give this place a second shot and they didn't honor our reservation due to more staffing issues.
Great food, but I don't think we will be going back. Fine dining prices, but it didn't feel like a fine dining experience. We're spending around $75 a person for dinner, and they charged us $3.50 for seconds on bread? I could see if we asked for beyond two helpings of bread, but I've never been charged for bread at a restaurant before other than Cracker Barrel. They are also BYOB, but they don't really have much of a social media presence or advertising, so we had no idea and missed out on being able to enjoy wine with the great meal.
We were the only folks in the restaurant at dinner time on a Saturday, and the atmosphere was a bit uncomfortable. There was no music playing so it was dead quiet with the exception of being able to hear everything the staff were saying to each other, including their frustrations with reservation cancellations/the lack of guests that night.
They had high chairs available but no diaper changing station in the women's bathroom. The bathroom was a bit gross for a fine dining restaurant as well. The soap dispenser and toilet paper holder were both empty, but they had some on a little table in the bathroom right next to their toilet...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in during the Ice Festival against my better judgement. This is an establishment meant for the NYC stuck up college crowd for sure! Service was abysmal! There were 3 couples in our party and everyone ordered different items no prices on menu- there is the red flag that your wallet is in for a hurting!!. My "meal" consisted of 3 tiny pieces of lamb with 2 little cubes of potato and one brussel sprout, all drizzled with some nasty sauce. The food was pathetic, a fast food value meal would have been more satisfying and definitely would have given me a larger quantity of food at least! The bills came and strangely even though every couple in our group ordered something different, all our bills were 136$. No explanation or itemized cost just 136$ for a terrible dining experience please!!! You got me once but...
