When to this cafe yesterday (Mother’s Day). It wasn’t packed as I assumed it would be.
My mother wanted to go there for breakfast. Of ALL the places- she chose this establishment. Cool, it’s her day, so why not take her?
We traveled from Catawissa, Pa. Ordered BEFORE we left home.
Got to the cafe at 10:40. Showed them my order number and receipt of purchase online. They couldn’t find my order. After 10 minutes of them whispering amongst themselves, one of the young college student said “We will just take your order now and have it ready for you”.
Cool. Don’t have a problem waiting. I’m in no rush. After 15 minutes I was handed a bag and my smoothie and went to the table to sit with my mom. Opened the bag and there was a bagel thrown into the bag UNWRAPPED with a knife sticking through it. strike 1
Open sandwich one and it was the wrong bagel and had no humus or cucumber on it. strike 2
Open the other sandwich and it wasn’t toasted. strike 3
My mother went to the cashier and stated the bagel wa wrong and had no hummus on it. She was greeted with a blank stare and had to PAY to re-order the correct sandwich. strike 4
Here’s the order:
Blueberry bagel toasted with scallion cream cheese at the side
Spinach bagel toasted with hummus, cucumber, red onions and avocado
Everything bagel toasted with butter, salt and avocado
Strawberry Peach Smoothie.
**Oh and the repurchase of spinach bagel sandwich because they wouldn’t fix THEIR error in giving the wrong sandwich.
I paid a total of $25+ for the above order and it wasn’t even the correct order. No compensation was given. No apology. Nothing.
My mother frequents this establishment as she loves their bagels. I told her not to judge an establishment on how they treat you when you are happy with their service BUT to judge them on how they treat you when you have a problem with their service.
Clearly we see they have no customer service nor value their customers. I work for a bank as a teller so I know what exceptional service is...

I waited another 20 minutes and inquired again to then be told that they are out of everything I ordered. I said I would have liked to be told sooner than waiting 40 minutes for food you don't even have and Simon stated that there are other bagel shops around that I could go to. I kindly asked for the managers name. He stated they don't have one and he was very rude while I was asking who to speak to as this was unacceptable service. I was very kind. Read moreWhy don't you toast your bagels? Putting them in the toaster oven for 30 seconds to warm them up does not mean toasting. Come on guys, you are are a bagel shop. Learn how to toast a bagel.
Also, service was very slow, which is perhaps connected (you were in a hurry to get the order out because you were running behind?), but that's not an excuse not to toast your bagels when they are ordered toasted. I didn't send it back to get toasted properly because I didn't want to wait 15 minutes again.
Other than that, the food was quite good. A generous quantity of smoked salmon and cream cheese. But I had to give only 2 stars for food, because eating that on a raw bagel is a completely different experience from eating it on a...
