Out of all of the haunted house locations I have been to, after visiting Fortress of Fear for the first time, it has taken a spot high up on my list. This location has numerous attractions, including various flat rides, go kart racing, concessions, a carnival game, what I believe to be a zombie shooting game, and of course the Fortress of Fear.
With regard to the Fortress, the design of it is exceptionally creative and has a walkthrough time of 15-20 minutes. Its sets are well made, and to try not to spoil much here, navigating its rooms was very entertaining âmaneuverabilityâ wise. There are numerous concepts in this attraction that I have never seen in other haunted houses. As for the actors (including the roaming ones in the midway), they all did a great job and stayed in character the whole time. What I find most interesting about the actors, however, is that aside from the conventional methods of scaring by jumping out in front of visitors or jump-scaring through openings in the walls, numerous actors would appear from some of the most unexpected places. Finally, there is an important detail to know about the wait times. I have noticed that multiple other reviews have mentioned having to wait two hours to enter this attraction, however this is likely due to the 1-2 minute intermission between parties being sent into the haunted house as a preventative measure to not overwhelm the actors, and to isolate the parties in order to maximize the intended effect of the Fortressâs rooms. I didnât experience this particular issue due to my party arriving 30 minutes prior to the Fortress opening, however to those who arrive later in operating hours on busier nights, I advise the possibility of buying a fast pass.
The second portion of this location is its carnival midway. The attractions are pretty straightforward with there being a tilt-a-whirl, a music express, and a bumper car style ride where your car occasionally develops a mind of its own during collisions and begins to spin around, otherwise known as the spin zone. These rides were entertaining with a solid run time and I had no particular issues with them, however a member of my group who is over six foot with a wide build did say that he experienced some discomfort with the seatbelt on the music express due to it being a tad too tight and did not have a slack adjuster. Additionally, there is a game booth with three separate carnival games of varying difficulty, however they all appear to definitely be winnable.
Finally, the third portion of this location is the glow kart racing. The line was pretty short, and my group was given a good amount of laps on the track. The karts are pretty quick, allowing them to drift slightly around the trackâs many corners. What makes this even more entertaining is that this is in the dark with LEDs attached to the karts, which makes a pretty cool sight to see all of them racing around at night.
As for the concession booth and zombie shooting, I had not gone to them, so that is up to you as the reader to find out how those are. Overall, this was a very fun experience, and I highly recommend to anyone reading this to pay Fortress of...
Read moreI'm opting for a 2-star review because the layout, attractions, actor costumes & make-up were all very good. There are no complaints there whatsoever. Aside from that, Blackout night with mandatory touch was completely ridiculous. I've paid additional for touch passes at other venues. It can certainly add to the experience. But this wasn't scary, it was annoying, intrusive, and unsafe. I personally had gloved fingers shoved in my mouth; the same finger that I watched go in ears, noses, other mouths, etc. This isn't scary. It's unsafe and basically middle-school bully behavior. I watched people be carried off, aggressive neck, ear, hair, etc grabbing and pulling. Shoes removed from people and placed on fence posts, requiring them to climb on tables (one shoed) to retrieve them. Note, we were warned not to lean on the fence, but forcing people to climb tables and lean on the fence was apparently okay. I watched people using the port-a-jons be rocked back and forth while inside. I'm sorry, a touch pass does not give permission to violate someone's use of the restroom. Completely unsafe and uncalled for. And again, not scary. Just unsafe and annoying. A member of my group never went through the main attraction because he was forced to sit and wait while others went ahead of him. Not because of Fast Passes, just because the actor wanted him to wait (and watch a video over and over). I've attended this attraction before, on Blackout night and with touch passes no less, and it was NOTHING like this. I'm paying to be scared. Frightened. Surprised. Not to be bullied and to have hands shoved in my mouth. Not to watch security intervene when a man puts out his arm to separate the actor from his partner who is pleading to have hands removed from her. Being scared and surprised is fun. Being assaulted is not, waiver or not. There's a clear line and it was...
Read moreIâve been going to haunted houses and attractions all over Northeast Ohio for years, some even more than once and every single one claims to be âThe Best Haunted Attraction in Ohio.â Well, let me tell you something. The Fortress of Fear Screampark actually earns that title hands down. This place had every single element of a perfect spooky night. Multiple attractions all included in one ticket, great food (yes, funnel cakes!), go-karts, and drinks. The atmosphere alone was electric, monsters roaming the grounds, interacting with the crowd, keeping everyone entertained while we waited our turn for the fright. But the absolute highlight of the night? Oh, you already know⌠THE NUN! She was 100% the real deal, commanding her eerie church like a possessed, demonic drill sergeant. The way she moved, the chilling stare with her head down and eyes locked like an eagle, instant goosebumps. She owned that space, and it was unforgettable. We wrapped up the evening on the âTilt-a-Hurlâ Iâll admit, not my thing (I donât do spin rides), but my friends loved it! From start to finish, this was a 10 out of 10 experience. Itâs not just a haunted attraction; itâs a full-on production where, for one night, youâre part of your very own horror movie and if youâre lucky, youâll live to tell the tale. Run, donât walk, to The Fortress of Fear. Youâll leave with a scream, a smile, and a story you love to tell! (Insert Vincent...
