I got into photography in or around 1979. I then lived in WV and bought all of my camera gear from places like B&H and Adorama. While on a trip to Lexington KY in 2009 I stopped in Murphy’s Camera for the first time. I was amazed at the amount of stock they had and how friendly the staff were. They even had a Nikon D3s that was hard to get at that time, which I bought that day. Now ten years and at least twelve cameras, twenty five lenses and countless other accessories I still shop at Murphy’s even though I now live in Las Vegas. I just bought a Canon EOS R after talking with Don Barker who has become a really good friend. He is probably the most knowledgeable and honest camera salesperson I have ever met. He will always talk to me when I call and if busy has never failed to return my calls. I have sent several other photographers from all over the country to Murphy’s Camera, they too now buy all their gear there. So if you are in need of anything photography related, stop in or give them a call they truly treat everyone the same whether you are a professional or a beginner. My latest purchase was a Nikon Z8 preorder. Release was the May 25. I called the morning preorders were permitted and there were no whoops to jump through; I was added to a list with the promise to call when my copy of the Z8 arrived. They called on Tuesday and told me I made the initial release. That was exciting, but the best part I knew they would call when it was my turn.
That may not sound like a big deal, but that integrity is a precious trait in today's world. Very few agreements are based on a person's word.
