Town Square — Local services in Lexington

I have visited this Food Lion off and on for over 20 years. I have never been a big fan simply because I didn't have the desire to keep up with another rewards program and no longer lived near a location. Times have changed, as have my family size and income. I visited this store for convenience and to see how prices compared to the location closer to me. The store looks great compared to what I remember of it over 10 years ago. The store was well stocked and had plenty of employees kindly offering assistance. At checkout I had an issue with my payment and had to return to my vehicle to retrieve another form of payment. Despite the setback and inconvenience from me, the cashier was wonderful. She was kind, patient, and cheerful. There were other employees available to assist with unloading, bagging, and loading my groceries - each matched my cashier's attitude and demeanor. Food Lion here is a great place to shop, the store is always immaculately clean and every staff member I asked helped me, especially the bakery. I went this time just before new year because I knew they would have collards ($0.99 per bunch). I also checked the weekly flyer online before going, and sure enough, they had thick-cut New York Strip steak for $5.99 per pound, this is a great price and the steak looked and cooked up beautifully, so tender. I also went previously and knew the bill was over $100, but when they finished ringing it up, they said, like $30. Apparently I was the customer that day to get $100 off my bill (Boom!). I would like to say BEWARE when choosing the Food Lion brand milk. I had purchased this milk twice a month or more since January of this year, and to no negligence of my own, I have discovered that it goes bad as early as 3 days after purchase regardless of expiration dates. I had brought this to their attention more than once but the problem still exists, therefore I will no longer shop there because there are other items I've had a problem with, another example such as small eggs(all not just a few) put in large eggs containers, they have also went bad.
