By the name, you would think you are in for some amazing deals! Definitely not the case! There are lots to go through and look at! Sometimes you need to dig to find treasures buried under mounds of boxes, items and dust. I don't mind the hunt and find it enjoyable. After searching high and low and find your desired items you need to bring them to Debbie for the prices (nothing is priced or marked). This is when things got interesting.... Debbie wants to review each item and search it on the internet, even going as far as to ask me to do it because she is busy with other customers. So, wait... you want me to search to find top dollar for you on an item that has a layer of dust that I found under the rubble? Sorry, no can do....definitely not my job! She is not willing to give good deals because she informed me that she is a consignment shop and not a thrift store and her customers expect top dollar for their items (that explains the layer of dust and why items havejust sat there). She will note the highest price an item is being sold on Ebay (not what the purchase price is) and she will maybe take a few dollars off that. Even if the item doesn't match what you are trying to buy....that's the price it is. When you walk into "Debbie's Darn Good Deals" the over stuffed warehouse you don't get "luxury consignor", so maybe that's where the confusion is because the presentation is not there. It gives huge garage sale, last chance sale at most! Not what you would expect from a said luxury consignor. I had a bunch of items I wanted to purchase, but didn't realize the time it took for her to research each item to quote me a price along with tending to other customers (plan to stand their for a while and be asked to look up comps for her), so I left empty handed which was a huge disappointment. I truly had high hopes for this place since seeing it on a reel and it truly makes me sad to leave a review like this on a...
Read moreThere’s no denying that this place has some really cool stuff, but if you are on the hunt for deals, I would not recommend. I’m a pretty seasoned collector, thrifter, seller, etc., and this place’s business model was not for me. Very few items in the store are priced and the ones that are labeled are definitely on the higher end—this is fine as it’s a consignment shop. The real problem starts when you go to checkout. Every item that doesn’t have a price (which is almost everything) has to be reviewed on Ebay by Debbie. Every item is looked up and then priced based on the highest listing point on Ebay, not the price at which the items actually sell. Obviously, this is not only frustrating because you really aren’t getting that great of a deal, but it also takes a loooong time. There were many things I was interested in and took pictures of to get a price, but after watching the long process of my friend checking out, it wasn’t even worth it.
My biggest complaint about our trip was that I did pick up 2 items that were clearly priced, but then Debbie tried to charge me over 2x the price marked for the item. The item was $6 and I was told “Now, did you pick this up because it was $6? That’s the price it was when it came in here. These are selling for $25-$30 on ebay, but I will give it to you for $20”. Uhhhhh, yeah. That’s a no from me. I stood strong on the $6 price and she did eventually give it to me for that, but then acted like she was doing me a favor for giving it to me at the marked price. Seriously.
All in all, does this place have great stuff? Yes. Is it fun to look through? Yes—take allergy meds though as it’s dusty. Are you going to get a “darn good deal”? No. I understand it’s a consignment shop, but the way things are priced is just not it. To be frank, it all feels...
Read moreThe only plus of this store is that you can look around at some nostalgia but don't even think about asking to buy something unless you want to pay internet pricing or above. I was looking at some clothing and overheard a conversation between Debbie and a woman in which she was trying to charge the woman $100.00 for a painting simply because it was "Hawaiian" despite not being able to find anything about it online - after hearing the conversation I tried not to ask her the price of anything else because I could see where it'd be headed. I was wondering why so much inventory was there and it's because of her pricing - nothing is moving. I am a huge fan of the movie Sleepy Hollow and noticed a VHS cut out display of it - dilapidated, not even sure if it'd stand up. She asked me to make her an offer, I said $40.00 - again, she couldn't find anything online but stated displays like that go for $1000.00. I called her out on the way that she prices and she said she is going to just start doing auctions because no one likes that she looks up value online - I would not go here expecting any kind of deals, at first you think you stumble upon a cool place until you want to buy something and you see it for what it...
