This was our second time doing an escape room here. The first time we had a good experience, however the second time was awful. On June 24th at 8:30 pm our group of 6 did LiCastro’s Lair. There were multiple mechanical issues that “broke” the game and made it impossible to continue without the game master having to physically slip a note under the door for us to figure out a piece of the puzzle. Which other wise we would have not been able to proceed through the game without. She literally slipped a white paper that she wrote on. There were multiple known issues (that they knew about before hand) with this room that were not vocalized or communicated to us prior to starting the game and they didn’t tell us until half way through. We were at a loss of what to do next because key pieces of this room were not “working”. Then later on something broke that revealed the final code to exit, way prior to when we should’ve received it. Then when we finally completed all the tasks the game master just opened the door and said “you finished”. When before she told us we needed to input an exit code. She said the room malfunctioned and showed us the exit code way before we needed it and that’s why we didn’t know it was to exit. That was supposed to happen towards the end. It was very underwhelming and our whole group felt very “meh” about the whole thing. Normally you’re excited to have completed an escape room when you exit, we didn’t get to have that feeling. Then when we were done she apologized and said the person that fixes things in the escape rooms (basically like a maintenance worker) was out of town and it wasn’t able to be fixed until they were back. I feel like this should’ve been communicated before hand or the room should’ve been closed down until it could be fixed. We spent a lot of money to do this escape room that was essentially “not fully working” to the point where the worker had to hand write on a paper and slip it to us under the door. Disappointing to...
Read moreI want to start off by saying that I was able to come to Lincoln Escape Room because of a birthday coupon. I thought it was incredibly generous for this business to offer a free promotional code for my birthday. I have never experienced that at another escape room!
First of all, when I entered the building, I absolutely loved the décor. The waiting room is fun - there were holiday-themed decorations, a fish tank, locks and keys everywhere - really, an exciting place to be. I also like the idea that if you escape, you can get a shirt at a discounted price. This establishment is seriously unique for offering the discounted ticket and shirt, and I loved that!
As far as the actual escape room experience goes - I participated in the Missing Musician escape room. I thought it would have been cool to get more into character to tell the story - the TV intro took away a little bit of that "magic" (no pun intended) for me. Also, I wish that I could have interacted with the game master a little bit more - I like the idea of walkie talkies or some sort of signal that shows that you need help - makes the experience more interactive. The clues were okay, but some were a little confusing. Overall, I felt more flustered than excited, and kept looking back at the screen in hopes that I could make sense of some of the clues. It could have been the group that I was with, but I do think that there were improvements that could have been made with clues. Lastly, and I mean this in the best way possible - please slow down with the game instructions! I felt very rushed and wanted to get more "into character," as I said before.
Overall, I'd definitely give this escape room business another try. It was a really nice experience, and I appreciate the gesture for my...
Read moreRoom and puzzles were good and we had fun. But unfortunately there was a series of mistakes in the setup and communication by the staff that made it a bit of negative experience. Once the game was over, we learned the room was setup incorrectly, which made it impossible to solve (the key to decipher the code to unlock a box was inside the box). This made it so we were unable to complete the second half of the puzzles in the room. They apologized and then told us it's a new room and is currently being beta tested to work out the kinks. But when we booked the room, we were denied a promo for 10% discount because it was an exciting new room and we had to pay full price. We didn't realize this meant it was a room being beta tested, which in our case resulted in an impossible to solve room and we completely stuck on an incomplete puzzle just half way through our time. No refund was offered, but we were asked to come back and pay to do another room if we think we could have solved it (we were actually told that we wouldn't have solved the room even if they had set it up correctly, but I beg to differ). The next thing that made it negative was they kept providing clues to puzzles we had already solved. We learned their cameras couldn't see everything and they assumed we were stuck on a step that we had already solved. There's a couple more nit picky things I would mention if j hadn't ranted long enough. Just beware new rooms that they don't tell you are still in...
