Great climbing gym! I've been to 3 others in NH a few times, and I have to say this beats them all. The courses each have their own color coded holds, which is SO much better than other places that use hard to see tape that's impossible to see after you climb over them. Tape also falls off, so you have no idea which holds you can use to complete a route correctly by rating. With the color coding, you know exactly where you are supposed to go, and you don't have to get stuck repeatedly on the wall trying to find the right hold, wasting all your energy, and you don't need a spotter below to tell you which holds are part of that course, repeatedly. There's many different difficulty levels for he climbing walls, many inclines, and this place has the biggest bouldering area, by far, that I've seen out of 4-5 different climbing gyms. Bathroom have mid-sized lockers to keep your stuff safe (though almost no one uses them) and the place was very clean. Will definitely be going back, even though it's the longest drive from...
Read moreI've been looking forward to going to this place for a few weeks and have been talking to my kiddos (2 and 5 years old) about it as well. This Saturday I looked up the Google listing which very clearly said open 9am-9pm, got the kiddos excited to go, packed then up and drove an hour to the rock gym. Got everyone our of the car and headed in to the front desk only to be told they were closed for a competition! I own a business and can attest it is super easy to update your hours on Google. If anyone on the metro staff had taken the 30 seconds to do this it would have saved us an hour of driving and two very disappointed kids. If you're going to list hours on Google, please make sure they are correct. I'd recommend calling before going since they don't seem to care about accurate...
Read moreI've been comparing notes with other climbers about other gyms and everyone is impressed with the route work and cleanliness (they clean all the holds between setting). I'm really happy with whoever is in charge of the music/playlist. I'm pretty fussy, but I hear new stuff, old stuff, and some surprising things (Trombone Shorty?!) - all decent! Somehow this place also has a good community atmosphere - if I go alone I always end up working productively with other members to work on routes together. The whole thing seems kind of idillic and magical - but I suspect that some of that can and should be attributed to good management and management hiring...
