Tavern in The Square has always been one of my favorite restaurants and I have been to the one in Littleton many times before. Recently, I was hired as a waitress, and my training experience changed my outlook completely on the restaurant and their "mission". The first thing that I recognized, was that they use a lender called "KickFin" where all credit card tips go through, the restaurant holds your gratuity each night until midnight, then transfers that money into your bank account. It seems harmless, but for every transfer into your bank account, there is a fee. And the Owner, Management Team, and Restaurant makes a profit/receives interest for holding your money. No employee should ever have to pay a fee to receive money that they worked hard for. Not only that, but that lender keeps track of how much money you make every night. When I expressed to the General Manager that I preferred to opt out, he did not accept my request & questioned me as to why I wanted to.
Secondly, they do not properly train new hires because they do not assign them with Certified Trainers. For the five-day training week, they give you a different server each day because they are unorganized in many different areas. They also do not train the wait-staff on how to properly train new employees which leaves the servers confused on the proper steps to take. They say that their main focus are the "guests" however, they train the servers to push & force up-selling on guests, they train them to talk in a robotic way, and to rush their tables so that they can flip, flip, flip which takes away from the guests experience.
They also recently implemented new "to-go" cocktails those of which they have been selling illegally. The cocktails come in mason jars, but they do not label those jars with anything which is extremely illegal which management was well aware of, but still enforced us to sell them anyways.
The managers curse, gossip with the staff, and walk around on their phones especially the new General Manager, Patrick Morang. The first day that I was training, a handful of servers had mentioned to me that the turnover rate was high, and now can understand why. As much as I enjoy the food at Tavern, I do not approve of how management runs...
Read moreSTOP CHANGING THE SUPPLIERS YOU GET YOUR SAUCES FROM!!!!! you literally used to have the BEST honey mustard...now it's disgusting and way too mustardy and tart... But at least you still had your amazing bleu cheese...so I would still get buffalo chicken every now and again (even though before you changed your honey mustard I literally ordered there almost every single night and got chicken tenders with extra honey mustard). Last night I got my usual chicken plates and for the first time in a long time the chicken actually had a decent amount of buffalo sauce on it and was delicious (the last several times it barely had any sauce and was soooooo dry). It was then that I thought they made a mistake and gave me ranch instead of blue cheese. Nope. I found several perfectly square chunks of what looked like completely artificial Bleu cheese chunks in a white sauce that resembles hidden valleys ranch dressing. Disgusting. Without your good sauces there's literally no reason for me to keep coming there. The chicken is good (on most nights anyway) but for the price I'd rather go somewhere that has a consistent dipping sauce that doesn't keep changing (and disappointing)..I think you guys used to make your own sauces but it's become quite obvious that's not the case anymore.
Also, the employees have become quite uneducated about their own promos and restaurant protocol. I've ordered there A MILLION times and occasionally the online ordering is down and they have to give the "20%off tavern Tuesday" discount over the phone. Well last night when that was the case and I called to order the person that answered knew nothing about it and then when I asked them to find out they said their "manager " said they didn't think the promo was still going on and that they couldn't do it it over the phone. Luckily I was able to eventually order it online and use the promo code but it was quite frustrating that they've done it for me a million times and now all of a sudden no one there knows anything about it. Educate your employees better and stop changing your suppliers and maybe you'll have a loyal customer again.. Until then I won't...
Read moreI have been to another Tavern in the Square, so I was happy to see this open for us to catch a late night dinner after the Witch's Wood haunted house. We arrived around 10:45 pm and were seated immediately. The place still had patrons, so that was a good sign, but our server seemed a bit out of it. She appeared to take down our order, but then throughout the night forgot different items and sides. Even when she brought our drinks, she seemed confused and first put one drink in front of me, which she moved to someone else when I asked if this was the Orchard cocktail I had ordered, as it just looked like a Vodka-sprite. And then brought a cocktail but decided to call it a different name ('punch sour') than what it was on the menu, and took it back since no one had ordered anything by that name. She then put a beer in front of me, and we were all confused at this point. When I got a chance to ask her, she brought back the previous cocktail and said that it was the orchard cocktail and that it had different names. Then, when the food started coming out, they messed up the sides and cook temperature on most of the burgers, but at this point, we had given up and just wanted to finish our dinner and leave. She had also forgotton the appetizers we had ordered with our drinks. Would not recommend this Tavern after this kind of...
