It was a tough holiday this year, and on a whim I decided to pop into Valley Wild on my way home. I have a comfort series that I like to keep an eye out for whenever I go to bookstores, and this place looked promising, so I decided to take a look inside.
What a hidden gem! On first look, just books books everywhere! It was such a lovely and quiet spot; there's places to sit and read, an area for the younger humans, and complimentary tea/coffee, so you don't feel rushed at all!
Everywhere I looked there were books. You'll want to take a few passes around this place, and I get the feeling you STILL won't see everything! After browsing alone for a time, I stopped at the counter for assistance finding the author I wanted. They had one available copy on their system, and found it for me in a bin with even MORE books that I had originally missed! Not only did we find the book I was looking for, we found another one from the same series by chance! What a lovely and charming experience, I will definitely be going back for a more...
Read moreMy favorite kind of bookstore — everything from vintage gems to like-new bestsellers. I’ve gotten so many books here in fantastic condition to give as gifts, and found so many interesting long-out-of-print oddities and treasures to add to my shelves. Prices are reasonable to straight-up cheap. Great selection of kids books, tons of DVDs and CDs, puzzles, old comic books, cookbooks, horror, sci-fi, fiction. The owner, Andrew, is the nicest guy, and will give store credit for books you bring in (if they are good ones! No Reader’s Digest!). They also know what titles they have in the store so you can call ahead and pick it up. Also a solid no-frills subs and pizza shop next door — so get your book, and a calzone too! Record store in next strip mall over. Street parking is mostly across the street but there are always spots around and you can usually...
Read moreI'm surprised to see that I didn't write a review of this book store when I first visited, which was quite a few years ago, not long after it opened. At the time, I loved it and would have given it 5 stars: 1 for its very existence, 2 for its close location, 3 for friendliness, 4 for selection, and 5 for community involvement; if it were possible to give 6 stars, I'd give it another for cost and the credits you can earn when you donate books. However, it has now become a hoarder's storehouse with heaps and piles of unsorted, unordered printed matter, with quite a bit of moldering, cheaply printed, yellowed pulp. When I go in now, I wonder if the the book I'm looking for is under one of the heaps. Unfortunately, it's no longer a...
