For a local grocery run, Berkot's is a wonderful little store that offers a pleasant and convenient shopping experience. It has the friendly, familiar feel of a community market while still carrying a decent amount of groceries and other essential items, making it easy to grab what you need without the hassle of a giant supermarket. One of my favorite things about shopping here is their deli department; they carry one of my absolute favorite meats that can be hard to find elsewhere, which keeps me coming back. Their selection of sweets is also quite tempting, and I've enjoyed most of the items I've tried. However, I would be a bit cautious with the super-large cookies near the checkout. On our last visit, they seemed a bit undercooked in the middle, so they might not be for everyone. As with many smaller stores, it's always a good practice to give the expiration dates a quick glance before you buy. Despite these minor points, Berkot's is a fantastic local asset. It’s a reliable and friendly place to shop, and I appreciate having it right here in our community. I'm always happy to support this great...
Read moreI have been coming to this store for the past 20 years! I've lived in Lockport for many years and love coming to this store because it's 3 minutes from home. Although yesterday for the first time in forever I was ignored and treated unselfishly. Her name was Diana I believe she is new to the store because I know who are the regular people who work here. The way she treated me was unacceptable, and the way she handed my money back was with attitude, I saw on the receipt she charged me incorrectly for two items so I told her the price she charged me was incorrect and she sent me back to the line which I had no problem with. I grab the sign of the price and show her because she didn't want to give me back my money, she proceeds to only give me my money back for only one item when it was two. She threw away my original receipt and asked her to give me my receipt back and refused to do so. She handed back my money in a very sassy way like she almost wanted to throw the money at my face. I never had a problem or encountered this sort of behavior at Berkots, but I was disappointed by how...
Read moreI've shopped at "Chippains" grocery store (in Lemont) for decades (at least 30+ years) and it was sad to see Chippains close it's doors. Berkots is very similar to Chippains, and is a great family-owned grocery store, the deli is one of the nicest I've seen, they carry a lot of items that most other grocery stores (Jewel, etc.) do not stock and do not carry, so when I am looking for hard to find sauces or spices, or special items, this is the place that I go! The produce is very fresh, and this is the place that I go to for fresh produce (at good prices) and the meat department is not bad (prices are a bit high) but when they have sales, the sales prices are usually good, and this is the best place to go in Lockport for fresh produce, and high-quality meats. The staff are not bad, but there is one "trailer trash" older lady that doesn't like to give out grocery bags (or double bag groceries) at this store, but other than that, the staff are usually friendly and nice! It's always good to check out their fresh produce and...
