All Dollar General stores offer 5.00 off 25.00 on Saturdays you have to have the digital coupon or coupon from your receipt. For the first three months their system wouldn’t take my coupons aka paper or wouldn’t cash or honor the 5.00 off 25.00. Yes you know I was not happy because I’m now spending more than was on my budget and it’s not helping. I stopped shopping at this one. Issue they are further away a year later I return... and guess what y’all!!!! They can now scan the coupons. Store is a little pricey but I don’t have to travel to get to them. Customer service is so so don’t...

Dollar General – Where Time Stands Still (and So Does the Self-Checkout)

I’m convinced this Dollar General runs on the same schedule as the McDonald’s ice cream machine — permanently “out of order.” The self-checkout has apparently been broken for over two years, and at this point, it’s less of a machine and more of a historical landmark.

Meanwhile, there’s always just one register open, with a line that wraps around like it’s Black Friday every day. The staff looks about as thrilled to be there as we are to be waiting, which doesn’t exactly boost morale on either side of the counter.

In an age where even my fridge can take payments, it’s wild that Dollar General can’t get a self-checkout fixed. Bring it back, please! Some of us just want to scan, pay, and escape before the next customer sighs loud enough to echo through the store.

Until then, I’ll keep hoping for that sweet technological miracle — or at least a second...

I discovered dollar general only last year. I drove by a thousands times thinking it was a dollar store. Ours actually a general store conveniently located 5 or 6 miles closer than the closest grocery store. Once I went in the first time I was hooked. The dairy is the best tasting in town. Even the eggs are delicious and they always have everything I need in a pinch. They even had some of my over the counter medicines and (hate to admit it) but favorite energy drinks ice-cold and cheaper than Kr-ger. The prices are very very decent for a convenience store.

Mine even has a Christian music station playing sometimes when I go in which Govea the whole place...
