My husband and I were in the market for a new mattress and wanted to buy from a local business if possible. Our first stop was The Better Mattress in Lone Tree. Tony was polite and helpful in educating us on the initial brands we were considering; then I spotted the Kingsdown brand which I am familiar with from long ago...enough said. We came back and purchased a Kingsdown mattress a few days later. Tony was great to work with on this large purchase. Delivery was timely and professional, and we are very happy with our mattress. We planned to return in a few months to purchase an adjustable base after we do a little more research. We also purchased two Malouf standard side-sleeper pillows that Tony recommended, as well as their luxury brand Cariloha mattress protector. Upon getting them at home, the pillows were an odd size - too large for standard pillowcases, but too small for king size. The mattress protector, clearly labeled “machine wash cold - tumble dry low”, was a disaster. As with all new bed coverings, I laundered it first (in a commercial laundry front-load) before putting it on our bed. However, this bamboo material did not shed the water at all – it was left dripping wet at the end of the cycle. We put it through another cycle in a different machine and the results were the same – absolutely dripping, soaking wet and way too heavy to go into a dryer. We went back to see Tony who agreed to accept the pillows for return since we had not slept on them, we only tried on pillowcases. But he refused to budge on the mattress protector. Worse, he refused to accept that the manufacturer’s listed care instructions were accurate, understood and followed, and said we should have known that we needed to ring it out by hand and hang it somewhere to dry. Oh brother… all of our bedding is luxury viscose from bamboo. I would not have chosen anything that isn’t machine wash and dry. If I had purchased this directly from Cariloha, they have a 100-night return policy. We have read reviews about The Better Mattress, one in particular where a mattress was returned 60 days after it was purchased because it wasn’t comfortable. One would think that the purchase of a $5k-plus mattress, with plans to return for a further purchase of a $2k adjustable base, would have been favored over a $159 defective product. It didn’t. Walked into the store for the first time and was greeted by Tony. He was so helpful and thorough with his detail in explaining everything to me. He also shared the promotions going on and was so attentive. As a young couple, he made us feel welcomed and was completely transparent with us. We told him that we would be back next week to purchase the mattress. The second time we came in to purchase, there was another sign for a different sale. The man working on July 3rd at 6:00pm was completely dismissive of us. When asked about the price, he completely disregarded the sign. Did not tell me how much the item was on sale or any details. It was like he just didn’t want me to buy it. After succeeding he smirked at his computer as we were purchasing the other mattress. Also said “oh that’s a bummer” when he saw that Tony’s quote was lower than what he would’ve given us. With everything, this man was talking down to me.

With Tony explaining everything to us without us asking any questions and making us feel welcomed. He made up for the salesman who didn’t even introduce himself to us when we were the only customers in the store and made it feel like he was trying to swindle us.

Definitely give this store a try and be sure...

The Better Mattress is a great place to get a quality mattress. The salesman, Tony, was super helpful always ready and available to answer questions. He determined what we were looking for and directed us to several mattresses that fit our criteria. There was no pressure and he gave us space to decide what we like while still being readily available to answer additional questions. We tried out a couple other mattresses just to see, but he had steered us well and we narrowed it to two and then made a decision. The delivery was quick and efficient. Somehow the promotional pillows weren’t delivered with the mattress, but I called and all was quickly resolved with the pillows arriving by FedEx within a few days.
