WARNING!!!!!
I GIVE 1 STAR BECAUSE Healthy Hound was pretty good until recently when they have had a higher employee turn over rate. I usually board my dog Judge who is a Rottweiler and is an excellent companion who gets along with all other dogs. My wife also boards her mini poodle Ember who like to get a break from her big bro Judge.I also make sure that Judge also only eats what i drop off for him because he has a very SENSITIVE stomach. Lately Healthy Hound is very desperate for good help and individuals who actual follow directions and rules which I'm sure everyone can agree that the workforce these days show up for a paycheck and have no pride in their work. I come across this in my professional work life myself being in outside sales and finding it hard to find good help nonetheless, I dropped Judge off for a 10 day boarding excursion thinking everything was perfect because Healthy Hound was excellent til this point however when i finally picked him up that same night i was awoken by the sound of explosive DIARRHEA!!!!!!!!!! AT 2 AM!!!!!!! THIS KENNEL HAS MESH LIKE HOLES BUT IS STAINLESS STEEL SO IMAGINE BOWEL SQUEEZED THROUGH EVERY HOLE OF THIS MESH LIKE SIDE OF THE KENNEL AT 2 AM. I had no choice but to get up completely sanitize the kennel and of course take my boy outside. Fast Forward to the very next day i drive to Healthy Hound to ask if by chance if Judge received any other kibble besides the food that i dropped off? I WAS ASSURED MULTIPLE TIMES THAT WHEN A CUSTOMER TELLS THEM THAT NO OTHER FOOD CAN BE GIVEN, THEN THAT IS THE ONLY FOOD THAT IS ALLOWED. Well upon investigation we found out that AND MAKE SURE YOU TAKE NOTE OF THIS!!!!!!! HEALTHY HOUND HAS CLOSED HOURS AND WEIRD PICKUP TIMES ON THE WEEKEND BECAUSE THEY HAVE LIMITED STAFF AND THAT STAFF HAS LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR PET SO THEY SAVE TIME AND RESOURCES. THIS IS WHY WHEN I DEMANDED VIDEO SURVEILLANCE AND FINALLY OBTAINED IT AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS IT WAS REVEALED THAT JUDGE RECEIVED THEIR OWN KIBBLE ALMOST THE WHOLE TIME HE WAS THERE. I DROPPED OFF 20 BAGS OF 3 CUPS BLUE BUFFALO WILDERNESS FOOD. 60 CUPS OF BLUE BUFFALO WILDERNESS FOOD FOR MY SERBIAN ROTTWEILER. I RECEIVED NO BAGS AT PICK UP. MY DOG GETS 3 CUPS IN THE MORNING AND 3 CUPS IN THE EVENING. SO WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT HE GOT MAYBE 5 DAYS WORTH OF HIS ACTUAL FOOD AND I RECEIVED NOTHING BACK THEN ON TOP OF THAT HAD EXPLOSIVE DIARRHEA I PUT 2 AND 2 TOGETHER AND KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. PLEASE BE AWARE FOR YOUR FURRY CHILDREN BECAUSE MINE HAD TO SUFFER AND THIS BUSINESS STILL CAPITALIZED ON MY PETS AND OUR GOOD NATURE ALL BECAUSE THEY WERE STRETCHED THIN. I URGE OTHER BUSINESS TO DETER FROM THIS TYPE OF ACT, I UNDERSTAND BEING LOW STAFFED AND I EMPATHIZE HOWEVER PETS SHOULD NOT...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my second time here. I didnāt love the first haircut my dog received, but I decided to give a second try - as I know we all have off days. I was not impressed again. To start, it was really upsetting that I had to call sometime after 3:30 pm (10:30am drop off) to see if theyād forgotten to call me. They said my dog had ready to go for over an hour and my phone kept going to voicemail when they called... but no one left a voicemail. (& my phone never rang!) Then, I was told that my dog had high anxiety and they couldnāt do her nails. I asked them to use the drummel & I offered to drive down and assist them. Between myself and 2 employees, they were able to clip her nails (they didnāt drummel as requested!) & It was a very traumatic time for my 14 year old dog. We were frazzled and ready to get out of there. Got home and got to really look at her haircut and was really disappointed. It looks like whoever took care of my dog was in a hurry because even though I specifically asked for a tidy up (feet feathers, butt tufts & other long random hairs) she is still straggly. Her butt tufts donāt even look like they got touched and her feet feathers are still pretty wild. The reason Iām so upset is because after all that ā I got charged $60 (highest price Iāve ever paid to get my 33# collie bathed and tidied up) And itās a mediocre job at best.
I am not normally one to complain - but after giving a second shot and being completely let down, I feel the need to share my experience. The staff should/could have educated me that the prices raised before hand. Instead of leaving me blindsided assuming it was the same as the first time. I understand theyāre busy, but in 14 years of getting my dog groomed, Iāve never had to assist with her nails like I did yesterday. It was not a good experience. Iām disappointed because this place is a part of our community and really close to my home, but I donāt feel like I am heard when I express my dogs needs.. I do not see any reason to keep frequenting this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI work with these guys in multiple different ways. 1) I am a client. My dogs board here when we are on vacations, they've had baths and nail trims and we also use the daycare option from time to time. WE LOVE THEM. Our dogs are always well taken care of, happy and healthy when we pick them up. I can count on one hand the number of people I'd leave my pets this. HH is one of them. 2) I am a local, professional dog trainer. Many of my clients are also clients of Healthy Hound. I've gotten tons of great feedback from my clients about their experience at Healthy Hound. I also love that anytime there's an issue at HH with one of our shared client dogs (because dogs are dogs and things happen) the staff contacts me about it immediately so I can do what I can to help address it. Sometimes that even means that they bring me in to see firsthand what's going on and if possible, I am able to intervene and work with the dog right there on the spot. This of course is only if the dog in question is already a client of mine as well and after I have contacted the owner on my end. The staff is friendly, thorough and professional. This is the only daycare/boarding facility in Cowlitz County that...
