I've ordered from this establishment quite a few times and they have always been pretty consistent and reliable, until today that is..

I ordered the enchiladas trio with cheese as my filing, which I've had here plenty of times. The package came leaking beans from the side and upon opening it, it's as if someone dropped the tray on its side. All the enchiladas (which usually have three different individual sauces on them) basically smashed into this giant conglomerate with the beans. Sure enough, all three of the unique sauces were compromised. But whatever, whether this was the fault of the staff or the driver, I was still determined to eat it.

Now the real violator comes into play... all of my enchiladas were FILLED with chopped raw onions, the same they use for their salsa. One or two bites of it wouldnt have been a big issue but it is as if they just poured chopped white onions into my enchiladas and poured cheese on them. A small bite of enchilada ushered in this tidal wave of offensive onion flavor. I honestly thought this was some joke or prank because I've never experienced such a thing before. I tried digging through the enchiladas and remove them but with the sheer explosion of beans, cheese, and sauce all melded into one another, its hard to find all the millions of small onion chunks. I opted to just take a bite and spit out all the chunks of onions I came across but at that point I wasnt even eating anything. No joke, my plate was filled with spit out chopped onions. I inevitably just threw away the meal and wrote it off as a waste of $24 (thats including delivery and tips, their enchiladas are around $15)

All in all, I liked this establishment but this incident is enough to bitter my favor with...

Came here with a friend for the first time. It was slow, we only saw a few other customers.

Waiter immediately came for our order. We weren't quite ready. Within minutes, groups people starting coming in.

I don't know if they were short staffed, but it took our waiter around 15 minutes to come back and take the order. Food arrived 15-20 minutes later. Not too bad.

Food was fine, it was the same as any other Mexican restaurant I've been too.

After our food, our waiter never once came back, we were never checked on, asked if everything was okay, do we need our drinks refilled, absolutely nothing.

The other tables were all getting service except us.

About a half hour later our waited FINALLY came back. By this time we were not happy and just wanted to leave. He brought us our check and we left.

1 star for service. Maybe they were unstaffed, but nothing was said. 3 stars for just average food.

Based on the service, we likely...

I HIGHLY recommend this place. So far best Mexican restaurant in the kelso-longview area I have been to so far. We went on a Friday night and they were quite busy (had to park next door since their parking lot was full), so obviously we aren't the only ones who like them. We were seated right away. Because they were busy, it did take a little time before we got our food, but they were constantly checking in with us and keeping us supplied with chips and salsa. Their salsa was amazing (and a little spicier than most other places I've been to). When we got our food, it was absolutely amazing. For vegetarians, they have a good selection. We had the spinach enchiladas and the trio queso enchiladas (I think thats what it was called. The 3 enchiladas, each with a different sauce topping. Both dishes were amazing and super flavorful. Highly recommend. Staff were totally awesome despite it...

I must have been there on an off night because we had an over all sad experience. We both got the basic burritos and, as it turns out, they're just meats wrapped in the tortilla. Nothing else inside. That was unfortunate, but it could have overlooked if other things were better. The carnitas must have been the bottom of the barrel because it was all dry and overcooked, same with my wife's chicken. The service was also sad. We had empty water glasses the entire time and we had to ask for them to get us filled up twice. The wait times were also more on the long side than being annoying. How long does it take to swipe a card? Apparently about 5 minutes. There were 3 other tables sat when we were there. The atmosphere was good and classic Mexican restaurant. Overall, I'd go back to hopes that it would live up to "the best Mexican in Longview" from other reviewers.

Don't let the outside appearance deter you this place has GREAT food and is very reasonably priced, and who doesn't love those chocolate mints! Between our family, we tasted a good cross section of the menu except seafoods. The rice and beans are awesome, kids ground beef taco meal was really good, the shredded beef was fantastic, shredded chicken was awesome too. The chili rellenos was good... But not quite as good as muchas gracias' rellenos. I'm kinda picky with chili rellenos though. Service was very attentive. All the food arrived at correct temps, carefully albeit not creatively plated, and fresh... Another pet peeve of mine is hot food. Their chips were warm and the salsa cold and tasty. We'll definitely be back to El Ranchero. Highly recommended.

Tried a new mexican restaurant. We were seated immediately. The restaurant was 15% of capacity. Drinks were ordered soon afterward, and chips and salsa were placed. After drinks arrived a couple of minutes later, dinner was ordered. An appetizer of jalapeños bacon wrapped was ordered. The restaurant is clean and laid out to maximize seating. The appetizer was served with cheese sauce. It was tasty, but the bacon inside could have been crisped for a better texture. There are a lot of decorations and pictures around. 5 minutes later, our dinner was served. The steak fajitas and lamb barbacoa de barrego presented well. The tastes were on point. Overall, this was a good experience, and the service was good. Reuben, the owner, was very open to comments.
