As a long time grocery outlet patron, this store is a disappointment.
I have been shopping at GO for over a decade in Portland Oregon, and after I moved here I was very excited to hear GO was coming to NE ohio.
The GO in Parma is really nice! I like stopping by there for staples when I'm In the area. Its got a very nice selection of produce, international foods, as well as a full NOSH section filled with organic products.
The Lorain store was pretty unpleasant, to be honest. I walk in, and notice right away that the store is about half the size of the Parma one. Ok, no biggie, so I roll my cart to what appears to be the most despicable produce section I have ever seen at a grocery store.
Each and every single product was wilted, rusted or just plain rotted. Raspberries were all mushed in the box, cabbage was wilting, and yall wanna charge 2.99 for 6 mini cukes when aldi has them for .79. The bananas were ALL brown.
I did not buy a single thing from the produce section.
I rolled on to discover that the majority of prices were atleast 25% higher than aldi.
This is a closeout store. We should be paying PENNIES on the dollar for items.
it was around this time when the music really started to get to me. The GO in portland does not play god music. For some reason this store was BLASTING god music. I do NOT want to hear music BLASTING at the damn grocery store. Its absolutely overstimulating and you are gunna drive away the people who dont wanna hear god music. Do you want people to spend money in your store or are yall gunna insist on alienating half of the population of Lorain who isnt christian?
There was no NOSH section, the frozen section was really lacking in prepared meal options... got home only to find the one deal I got- a bottle of avocado oil, expires at the end of Decemer.
These prices are NOT worth it, especially considering everything you buy expires MUCH earlier. If something with a TWO YEAR shelf life is one month away from expiry, it should cost PENNIES.
Yall really messed up with this store. Its basically a save-a-lot with loud music blasting at you. Its like the Oregon GO is a completely different business!
the employees...
Read moreI was not impressed with anything. Only bought one item for myself and a few things for a grandchild, but I don't plan to go back ever. I would rather shop at Aldi, Marc's, Walmart, or Meijer. Hated the sun glaring in my face at the front of the store. Didn't like the product selection. Prices were about what I would expect. No real bargains, in my opinion. Store appeared clean. Don't remember seeing any restrooms. I don't recall seeing any self-checkouts. Overall, I was highly disappointed and find it hard to believe this place will be able to stay...
Read moreGrocery Outlet has a really nice selection trending name brand and organic food products at fair or lower prices. I think this is what sets it different from other 'discount' groceries is it is not just off-label or standard run of the mill brand products, but you may find things you would run into at higher end, like your Targets, or Costcos of the world. They will definitely be on my food run stop. Plus it is operated by a super nice local Husband and Wife team who support locally and I...
