KAY Jewelers — Local services in Lorain

If I could give this store 0 stars I would. They have lost all of my paperwork and documents from when I have gotten my ring serviced, repaired, inspected, stones replaced, and prongs replaced. They have also lost my warranty and I was told “you never had a warranty.” If I never had a warranty before, then how was I able to get all of these services for FREE? Oh, because they were under my warranty that suddenly does not exist. I have lost a total of 4 stones in this ring within a 6 year period. I have also lost 3 prongs on 3 separate occasions. I take very good care of my jewelry. I have rings that are 10+ years old and have NEVER had any of these issues. Not to mention, when the prong was fixed the first time, my ring came back with a crooked middle stone and the “new” prong was crooked and the silver was a literal squiggle (it looked like this symbol ~ ). This prong fell off again, i’m guessing because it was not made properly to begin with. This company has given me the run around from the moment I walked in the door. I have called customer support twice and been dealing with this for over a week. Mind you all I am trying to do is get any and all receipts and documents stating my services to prove my warranty! I am telling my store in hopes it saves someone else the hassle and the money. I will never be returning to any Kay Jewelers franchise and will choose to get my ring...

I went in today to get my wedding band resized. The sales lady immediately asked if the ring was purchased from Kay Jewelers, I let her know that it was purchased in another state where my husband had been stationed. It seemed like the fact I didn’t buy the ring from them made a negative difference. When she found out the main stone was moissanite she said they would not resize the ring. I questioned her about it she said the store policy is that they won’t work on moissanite rings because heat can damage it. This all sounded pretty ludicrous to me as the store sells lab grown stones so there shouldn’t have been any problem with my ring. I went home and researched moissanite, on the Mohs hardness scale a diamond is a 10 and a moissanite is a 9.25. Other stones are much lower on the Mohs scale but Kay Jewelers will work on those. If they don’t want to work on jewelry that they didn’t sell, then just be honest about it. The sales lady made me feel like my ring was beneath their standards and that they didn’t want my business. I have always been unimpressed with this chain store but since we were new to the area this was the only jeweler I knew of. Kay Jewelers on Leavitt Rd in Lorain, Ohio is where I purchase my jewelry from and have for many years. All the associates have taken care of me well and greet me when I walk into the store. Martha is very friendly, outgoing and assures that my cleaning and inspections are done carefully. and thoroughly. She shows me jewelry that I want to look at but with no pressure. She also recommends jewelry that would look good on me or if there is something really nice about a certain one. I would highly recommend Martha if you go shopping there. She will definitely take care of you. Kay's jewelry is priced right and very beautiful. The warranties are so worth the money. I had to have rings sized and resized and it is done in a timely manner. I also had a stone loose and that was taken care of. They show me the progress when it leaves the store and comes back. They notify me promptly. They also notify me when it is time for my inspections and cleaning. This is so wonderful as I would forget to do it. Give them a try. You will...
