I’ve been to many barbershops in the area, and after coming to Grey Matter and seeing Vincent Sammut for nearly a year, I can confidently say I will never look for another barber again.

The shop: This barbershop has a beautiful modern interior, unlike any barbershop I’ve seen before. I can tell the owner put a lot of thought into the design and theme of the shop, as it shows.

The barber: Vincent has been cutting my hair for nearly a year, and I walk out of the shop loving my haircut each time. Everyone should feel great after leaving a haircut, and Vincent makes sure of that. He is also is the nicest and most polite person I’ve met in LA after living here for 3 years. I notice how he treats the client before me, after me, and of course me, and he is always very respectful to everyone. I can tell he’s a man who holds his character to high moral standards. He always makes sure I have a drink and am hydrated. He makes sure to massage the shampoo into my hair when washing my hair. He’s very considerate of his customers, I feel lucky to have met a great person. I look forward to getting my haircut by him each two weeks, and also seeing him. I will be a customer to Vincent Sammut for as long as he cuts hair. Thank you Vince.

One more thing: Today while I was in the shop I arrived early before Vince was there. While waiting, Matt Vu politely offered me a drink while waiting, even though I was not his customer. I really appreciated that. Matt also cut my hair a few times, and always did a great job....

i desperately needed a professional cut after months of managing my hair alone. i heard through a buddy that Grey Matter was operating on their rooftop parking lot, so i booked an appointment for a Friday afternoon.

i was not disappointed. my stylist was Anthony; he was on time and gave me fantastic cut. the outdoor setup was amazing; it's like they had already set up a salon in the parking lot and then just removed the walls. there was plenty of shade, and misters were gently spraying cooling blooms of water. plus, the owner was there to greet me and offer refreshments... such a rare thing these days.

another thing: everyone was wearing a mask. at times i held my mask in place with my hand (since i had to pull the straps off my ears for Anthony to work); but this is absolutely not a big deal to get a great cut.

these are tough times for us all, and especially for small business owners. it's good to know some of them are adapting, while still maintaining great service in a professional, safe environment. obviously, i will be...
