If you are anywhere in Los Angeles or on a vacation this is a must stop and a hidden gem in West Hollywood. You will have the best Italian food in all of Hollywood and maybe the City. There is not one thing wrong with this place. It is perfect. You will be in heaven. You will be calm and relaxed while served by the best staff and the owner is cute as a button, and Italian.
It was concert night for Buddy, my grandson, and I and we were in search of a new fine dining restaurant. We were driving down Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood and Buddy sees this little tiny Brown building and says let's look. He sure knows how to pick them. Turns out to be an Italian restaurant with everything made from scratch, no preservatives, no sugar, just amazing food. They even make their own bread.
We walked in, parking is on the street and they might have valet at night, I don't know. We were the first ones there. They were not even open yet, but we did not know and we walked in. The sweetest, most adorable young man asked us where we would like to sit. The place is so pretty, but small. We told him to put us where ever he wanted. We were starting to realize the place was just about to open. The waiter took us upstairs to the most wonderful table near a window. He asked what we might want to drink and gave us menus. Their menu is not huge. Again, they make everything from scratch.
We were brought warm Italian bread and it was so great. I asked about it and they make it right there as they do everything. It was amazing.
For entrees we had ravioli and a wonderful pasta filled with shrimp, clams and mussels in a red sauce. It was so great, my grandson was "sharing" my food. Again, all made there, to order, by scratch.
For dessert we had the best Tiramisu I have ever had in my life.
As the place began to fill I could see wonderful dishes going by. The waiter was kind to my grandson and gave us all the time we wanted. It was just a wow experience and I have been to most of the Italian places in Hollywood. I can't wait to bring my husband. He is going to love it.
On the way down the stairs an adorable man took my check and card. It turned out he is the owner. He is Italian and all of these receipts are his. I think he might have "borrowed" a little from his grandmother and mother and added some of his own. I could tell he loved his little fine dinning place. He was so sweet--photo attached.
You must go there....
Read moreAbsolutely exceptional all the way around. Easy parking near by, cute building, fantastic ambiance. Staff is well trained and never hovers, perfect for an authentic Italian dining experience. Now on to the important stuff;
The food is exactly what you hope from an old school but high end Italian restaurant. Everything well made, traditional Italian garnishes, and no fluff. Beef Carpaccio, Ravioli di Funghi, and the Rack of Lamb where the highlights. The dover sole is also hard to believe at $32, feels like it's half off.
What truly makes this a 5* experience worth making time for is the wine list. The top end of the list will make you feel like you are stealing. Wholesale prices on some truly exceptional wine including 1990's Sassicaia that is drinking flawlessly.
This is a must go location for anyone looking for quality Italian in LA, who appreciates good value wine, or just wants a quite evening with good food away from the chaos and flash obsessed crowded tables of the traditional...
Read moreI am baffled by the 5-star reviews. The owner/manager was condescending, brusque, and rude; the food was mediocre. It was fine -- not good, not bad (which is pretty damning) -- just your average red pasta sauce that could have been from a bottle with pasta (that mercifully was not overcooked). Take that theme and add sausage, eggplant, shrimp, whatever -- there you have a big chunk of the menu. It was noisy; pounding from the kitchen was heard throughout dinner.
I was being "treated" to this place as a birthday dinner, but we all were eager to get out as soon as possible. We didn't want to bother with any kind of celebratory dessert because it was so unpleasant to be there. (Happy Birthday to me -- ha.)
I certainly will never go back because once was more...
