Avoid SageLA â Unprofessional and Discriminatory Experienceďź
My boyfriend and I recently applied for an apartment at SageLA and were shocked by how unprofessionally and disrespectfully we were treated. Our application was denied because they claimed there were issues with my bank statements. I provided 3 months of statements showing I had more than enough funds to cover the rent, but the third-party service they use, TwoDoc, kept having trouble verifying my account. They even accused me of editing the statements, which is completely false.
We went to the leasing office, and I downloaded my bank statements directly in front of Kimberly, one of the leasing consultants. Despite doing this, and forwarding her a direct email from Citibank proving the legitimacy of the documents, she still didnât believe me. To make matters worse, she asked me to log into my Citibank account on her computer! I refused because itâs a massive invasion of privacy, and no one could guarantee my information wouldnât be compromised. She said I have to log into my bank account by using their device, otherwise they will denied me. When I offered to show her on my own device in front of her, she refused and said she was "doing me a favor." My lawyer confirmed that no leasing office has the right to demand this.
Throughout this process, Kimberly was unprofessional, condescending, and rude. Every time we visited the office to sort this out, she gave us attitude, claiming they were too busy and dismissing us with comments like, âgo enjoy life outside.", even the leasing manager has told us to wait for him. She even made discriminatory remarks, questioning my residency status and asking to see my student visa, despite me being a permanent resident. To top it off, she claimed Citibank was not a U.S. bank and that she didnât know how to handle international applicants. The whole experience felt discriminatory, and we were treated differently because we are Asian.
After this awful experience, we applied to another apartment with no problems at all. The leasing office there even asked for six months of bank statements, which I provided without issue. If it wasnât for Kimberly's unprofessionalism and poor attitude, we wouldn't have found a much better place to live. I strongly advise anyone considering SageLA to steer clear â you deserve to be treated with respect, not subjected to privacy violations and...
Read moreBack in January my boyfriend and I applied to live at SageLA we were helped out by Breanna. It was all fine till it came time to apply, once applying we explained our income and they assured us there is a way of being approved and that it shouldnât be an issue. We went ahead with the application.
After all that we were approved with âthe guarantorsâ which basically means weâd have to pay them to approve us. I think the amount was about $4,000 which didnât even go towards the security deposit nor first or last rent. Itâs just paying to be approved and non refundable.
Throughout the process my boyfriend and I were the ones having to reach out for updates constantly. And when we did finally get a chance to speak to somebody on the phone, they would agree to email us and never did.
Eventually, we both agreed that if it was hard to get communication from them with putting in an application, I can only imagine how hard it would be if we had an issue living there.
At the end of the day Iâm leaving this review because after months of this happening it really put a bad taste in my mouth about how we were told that how we received income wouldnât be an issues and they say âtheres way of getting you approvedâ they mean youâll have to pay additional money to be approved that will not go towards anything beneficial . I wouldâve liked the honesty from them from the beginning. It feels like they just want you to put in an application so they can get money for the application and then ghost you. It was completely unprofessional that we had to keep calling constantly to get any sort of update.
I would avoid this complex. The application process is complicated & the communication from the front desk/leaser are...
Read moreIâve lived at this apartment complex for over a month now, and I can honestly say itâs one of the best living experiences Iâve ever had. From the moment I moved in, the management team has been incredibly professional, friendly, and responsive. Any maintenance request Iâve submitted has been handled quicklyâusually within 24 hoursâand the staff always checks in to make sure the issue was resolved to my satisfaction.
The property itself is beautifully maintained. The landscaping is always immaculate, and the common areas (including the gym, pool, and clubhouse) are kept spotless. Itâs clear the management team takes a lot of pride in the appearance and atmosphere of the community.
Inside the apartment, everything feels modern and high-qualityâupdated appliances, spacious layouts, and great sound insulation. I rarely hear my neighbors, which is a huge plus. The location is another highlight: close to shopping, restaurants, and public transportation.
Overall, this place really feels like home. Iâm so glad I chose to live here, and Iâd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, safe, and well-managed...
