If you ever find yourself yearning for a blend of adrenaline, nostalgia, and a meal so good it’ll make you reconsider your culinary life choices, Wilderness trips may be you're jam. Our first was a grand canyon trip in 2022 and recently we just completed the Bryce Canyon trip.
First off, the high-performance machines are a dream come true. We were zipping around canyons, technical trails and some flats that will allow you to hit 75-80+
The real winner is the food. It was like Wilderness had hired a team of top-notch chefs who had previously cooked for royalty or at least for people with highly elevated taste buds. I didn’t know I could have such a phenomenal culinary experience while pretending to be a child again around a campfire. Marshmallows never tasted so good, and the camaraderie of sharing stories with friends in such a setting was just priceless.
We had such a blast that we’re already planning our third private group outing. If you want an adventure that combines high-speed thrills with mouthwatering meals and a nostalgic campfire vibe, look no further. Wilderness is where it’s at. 2 "Minor" suggestions- Check if its fire season; if it is your're left with a propane fire which unfortunately is not the same as a campfire. Less heat, Less Light and they run out of propane quickly, can dull the experience if you had the pleasure of doing the full campfire experience. (but) this is to prevent Forrest fires so we understand. To get around the minimal fire experience, ask before your trip for the guides to pack 2 or 3 propane ammo fire cans with at least 1 propane can per day. Now knowing this we will ask in the future. Also Bryce and Zion is just Bryce, we did not touch Zion due to some accessibility issue with a previous trip. Hopefully that will change in the future but still I rate the experience a 5 out of 5 and planning a third private...
Read more"No one tells you when the last time is" This is something my best friend said on the last night of our Yosemite trip with Wilderness, as we sat around the fire and reflected on our experience. We grew up riding together along with my dad, my brother, and my grandfather. It was our tradition, and the source of the majority of our most cherished memories. Then all of the sudden it stopped. We grew up and went off to college. Life got busy. We all ended up in different parts of the country. In hindsight we should have seen it coming but somehow none of us really did.
So this trip riding with Wilderness wasn't just special because of the expertly curated routes, unbelievable camping spots, or ludicrously good food, all of which I promise is even better than it looks in the pictures. This trip gave us back something we thought we had lost, not by vainly trying to re-live the past but by capturing what made those memories beautiful in an incredible new experience. 4 days of riding iconically beautiful country. 4 days making new friends. 4 days being carefree in God's creation. 4 days living like kids again, except even Dad got to be a kid this time. No planning, no logistics, just raw experience and fun. I hope it wasn't, but if this was the last time, it was damn good one.
Thank you Wilderness, especially our guides Ryan, Greg, Donny, and Matt, for the trip of a lifetime that means more to me than you know.
If you're reading this and on the fence, book it. You will...
Read moreI'm a lifelong outdoors guy who has done a whole lot of backcountry trips over the years, but I've never had an experience that combined excellence and exhilaration like the UTV trip my son and I took with Wilderness Collective over Labor Day weekend 2024. I'm not sure how our outing could have been improved upon. The trails were well chosen and well led, the campsites all featured enough moving water to clean up at the end of a dusty (or muddy) day, and the itinerary afforded us enough breathtaking views of the red-rocked American West to fill a lifetime's worth of scrapbooks--if such things still exist. The WC crew was kind, patient, graceful and admirably skilled. They were also deeply thoughtful and reflective and added much to the emotional depth of our journey with their shared insights. Safety was a huge focus. Client community commanded an equal premium. The food was the unexpected gem of the trip. Honestly, I expected oatmeal for breakfast, energy bars for lunch and sandwiches for dinner. What we were actually offered at mealtimes would have made James Beard blush. We couldn't have eaten more creative and delicious fare in a major city. To eat in that high style over 100 miles from the nearest restaurant with tablecloths was a true delight. Kudos to the team at WC. They're officially atop my lifetime list of favorite backcountry outfitters and I can't wait to saddle up...
