Loquat, as mentioned in their bio, is a private label of the beloved Kumquat coffee. I first stumbled upon this place (December 5, 2023) after initially trying to find parking at Kumquat dtla location, street parking was impossible so I told my partner letâs try out Loquat instead. At Loquat, free parking is available along the Main Street, might have to park a couple blocks down, which isnât a problem since the neighborhood seems calm imo. Upon entering Loquat Coffee, we were greeted by the employees, which might not seem significant to some but it honestly makes a difference. We felt welcomed right off the bat. I ordered the Guatemala Antigua pour-over and my partner ordered the ceremonial matcha iced latte. The pour- over was well executed, to the barista who did the job thank you. The coffee grounds were not scalded at any point. The precise temperature allowed the coffee grounds to elicit the notes of dark chocolate and green apple. The coffee was smooth and enjoyable at every sip, as it was not acidic. My partners review for the iced match latte was 8/10. She prefers the ones prepped at Kumquot coffee, specifically dtla location. If youâve been reading up to this point, there is additional parking on the streets where the houses are situated. If you can, try to opt out of to-go-cups, enjoy the coffee in a mug or glass. Would I return to Loquat? Of course, I will continue to try out the pour-overs and the other items offered. Would I recommend Loquat? Yes, I would definitely, whether itâs to family or friends. Give this place a try, you canât go wrong with...

Loquat defines what a high level coffee and service experience is above anything else.
When you walk in, you will notice everyone behind the counter doing something. There is no one leaning, on their phone or having personal conversations. The baristas are so tuned in to serving and meticulously making beverages.
A few things that I have noticed and appreciated as someone who is a formally trained barista with a passion for service:
A customer brings their used glass to the barista counter instead of the designated bus tub. The barista immediately clears it, washes their hands and gets back to the bar. Everyone is doing something. Precisely weighing beans, mixes and ice. Washing dishes, consolidating concentrates and never neglecting the register. Baristas are happy to talk to you about your beverage and your experience of it.
I think these behaviors often go unnoticed in the monotony of the deeply saturated coffee buying experience, but Loquat stands out as one of the best cafe and coffee experiences I have ever had.

LOQUAT COFFEE (est 2024) is a corner specialty coffee shop in Cypress Park neighborhood of LA. Itâs a private label of Kumquat Coffee. LCâs drink menu has an even distribution of espresso, pour-overs, cold brew, teas and signature drinks.
Its interior is beautifully designed with an eye catching yellow & black color background scheme throughout the coffee shop. Furthermore, their seats were mixture of modern and classic design. Similarly, its high ceiling gives it more visual depth with natural light through their large windows. And the shop has that industrial exterior look with barely readable name.
Anyways, Loquatâs atmosphere was very relaxing. Staff were eloquent and competent. Prices were slightly higher than other coffee shops. Service was spot on. Coffee quality was great. Music background was soothing.
As for drinks, I had a Brazilian Cold Brew. And it was bloody awesome! Itâs very refreshing really especially on a hot sunny day. Free wifi. Ample of street parking. Overall, I had a splendid experience and enjoyed my drink. I highly recommend you visit. See...
