I called a store near me to find a part last minute and they said that this location had it, so I called them and received some of the worst customer service I've dealt with in a while. The guy that answered audibly sighed as he said his opening statement ("Thanks for calling ___, this is _") so without having said a word I already knew this wouldn't be pleasant. I work at a competitor store so I already know how the interactions go and I promptly asked for my specific part for my specific car without beating around the bush. The guy immediately responded that they won't have it and that I could buy a universal part if I had the dimensions, but didn't even bother looking in his system. Having just called a different Auto Zone that confirmed their inventory, I asked if he could at least check since it said they did. He put me on hold for about 3 minutes and then finally picked up the phone and said he showed having two. I asked if he could verify before we drove the 30 minutes across the bridge to get them and he begrudgingly said sure and put me on hold for 15 minutes. My boyfriend was sitting next to me and I asked him to call since the guy clearly didn't want to speak with me and sure enough, his call was answered promptly and the manager verified inventory within 3 minutes, all the while I was still on hold, adding up to almost 20 minutes. Once we arrived to pick up our parts, we mentioned the terrible customer service to the manager and he said, "Yeah, we've been pretty busy" (even though he was out front smoking a cigarette as we walked up) and said he was sorry, but having worked in customer service for the majority of my life I understand that rude interactions should NEVER be excusable and nothing can justify it. Overall, the experience was less than unpleasant, as is with many other Auto Zone locations on the night shift, and I think I'd rather wait until the next day than use AZ's late hour convenience from...
Read moreIn one weeks time, we purchased 3 Alternators, being two different brands total. All 3 of them were defective. AutoZone staff checked them out every single day after we got them, and said yes they were defective. We then had to go to Pep Boys near our home and have an alternator installed and it costs a fortune, but Guess what? The truck is running fine. No loss of power. Auto Zone apparently has bad merchandise on their shelves. It was sad because it wasted an entire week of my husbands time going back and forth over 6 times to get one, install it, to find the next day his truck lost power, then go back the next day to take it back then come home install that one, and so on and so forth. One of the workers tried to insinuate that my husband was at fault, or it was faulty wiring,. I understand his reasoning, however when we would bring back the day old alternator each time and they would hook it up and say yes it is bad. So Please beware of this Auto Zone's merchandise. I can not believe a manager never reached out to us to apologize for the trouble and the further expense we had to incur by having to go to Pep Boys because I had had enough of this back and forth with their products they sell. Each time after installing the three different Autozone alternators, the vehicle would work for a moment and be lose power the next day, having to go back to the store. We even purchased a battery to be certain. Its great that after Pep Boys installed their alternator from their store, the truck is on day number 3 of...
Read moreWill not be returning here - their Battery tester gave a faulty reading. No critical thinking was done before they tried to sell me a new alternator. It would have been a big (and expensive) mistake had I taken the advice given to me at AutoZone. Iâm not sure if this was a matter of laziness or an honest mistake, or if they treat women differently here as is so often the case at car shops.
Came in after my car stalled on the highway (would not accelerate, but after a bit of slow driving it was OK. No warning lights or other power-related issues). I was assisted by a younger guy and a trainee. I asked them to test my battery as it has never been replaced in 6 years; they used the handheld device and it came back battery OK, charging mechanism not OK. The device didnât give a printout, didnât provide voltage info or any detail to verify this. From there, with no further testing or acknowledgement that an alternator issue would probably not result in a sudden stall like thatâŠthey tried to sell me a new alternator. I wanted a second opinion so went to Advance Auto Parts in Jeffersontown. The battery tested OK on everything and they were able to provide a more detailed diagnostic. At that point my check engine light did come on - long story short, there is a fuel pump recall on my car which will be fixed by the dealership, no charge. Unbelievably poor guidance given...
