I’ve been to three teas at the Bashford Manor Inn, including the 1920’s Downton Abbey–themed tea I co-hosted on Sunday, September 7, 2025, for my ladies’ group. The love and attention to detail that the owner, Cynthia, has poured into this beautiful old building is evident from the moment you arrive. From the manicured lawn and flowers, to the inviting common areas, to each elegantly decorated room, every detail is thoughtfully attended to.
We were served afternoon tea on classic three-tier trays filled with delicious sweets and savories, along with freshly brewed tea presented in proper ceramic teapots with cups and saucers. The staff was warm and attentive throughout. Afterward, Cynthia gave a fascinating talk about the history of the inn, even sharing stories of some of its famous visitors, such as Abraham Lincoln. We were then invited to explore the inn and grounds and take photos.
This was my first time hosting an event, and so many ladies thanked me for planning such a wonderful experience. The Bashford Manor Inn is such a special place—beautiful, peaceful, and timeless. It feels magical to me like stepping back in history. Thank you, Cynthia and staff, for creating such a special...
Read moreWe stayed in what was advertised as a small apartment attached to the outside of the hotel.
When you walk in the room, all three sides are windows which mean it can get rather cold or hot depending on the time of year. There are window shades that can be drawn but it still doesn't feel very private. We felt like we were in a fish bowl.
The bed is really only suited for very small couples, while there is room for a larger bed, they chose to leave a twin for sleeping. A queen or larger should be a no brainier.
The bathroom is located in a very narrow stairwell which is awkward. What makes it worse is a medium sized or bigger person has to turn sideways to get into the stairwell/bathroom because it's so small. To get to the shower, you have to step over the toilet. The stairwell bathroom has a curtain which adds very little to no privacy.
The very narrow stairwell leads to a second story. The second story has another single bed but is also a rather awkward set up. The bathroom is also very small.
I would find another place to stay, it has the undertones of what a room out of a horror film might be like. The room was inexpensive but I would happily pay more for a...
Read moreWhat a beautiful historic mansion inn! The decor was amazing, with caring attention to detail. The owner just glows with southern hospitality & and pride for the history she fabulously restored in the inn. She is kind and helpful, with great recommendations for site-seeing & dining. The historic inn and grounds are very inviting & beautifully restored. The room was very spacious with beautiful tall ceilings, well furnished, quiet and clean. The claw-foot tub was a nice, romantic touch. It was like stepping back in time while still enjoying modern amenities like comfortable AC, kitchenette with fridge & TV. The grounds are lush & shaded with several patios & porches, even a coy pond. It was so quiet & relaxing, like a park surrounding the inn. We enjoyed it being so easily accessible from the highway & easy to navigate into downtown Louisville. Check out all of the amazing murals, historic maps, and photos throughout the rooms and mansion. The owner Cynthia has so many stories to tell about the history of the region,...
