Had high hopes for this restaurant because of the reviews and photos but very disappointed to say the least.
Upon arrival, before 5 pm the restaurant was empty, was told by the hostess that they had no available tables because of reservations. We questioned that being so early and found out the reservations were not until 7:30 pm so the 2 of us were seated.
It started off good when we ordered the Hummus Brulee appetizer, and it was amazing.
Upon getting the pasta meal, Cacio E Pepe, that is were the problems began. I was attempting to put salt on the pasta when when a huge pile of salt spilled all over the pasta. So, waited for a new meal to be made. It did take some time but that was not what upset us. We could tell immediately that the pasta was heavily salted way more than it was before, and I love salt but this was ridiculous. It tells me they just scraped the salt off the 1st meal, stirred it up and gave it back to us. When I took my fork over some sauce on the side of the plate I could taste a ton of salt which further confirms my theory. We could tell the server's attitude changed after the salt incident even though I was very apologetic over it. Also, the pasta was way darker than the original one probably because of the the extra, extra, extra pink sea salt. Yes, they offered to make the meal a 2nd time, but we had somewhere to be and waiting on another meal was not possible.
The spritzer cocktails are heavily iced which shows they are being cheap. This watered down the alcohol immediately and made it taste like flavored water.
The potato wedges, berbere aioli were very good, and I would highly recommend.
The lemon bar desert was good but way too small for the price.
Our server, Kelly, was attentive but had an air of...
Read moreSaw this new spot on an influencer’s IG post and promptly booked a late night dinner. We were greeted and sat promptly despite being about 15 min early to our 9pm reservation.
Service was great. Our water glasses never emptied. Timing of our meal was on point. Our waitress took each of our orders (drinks, appetizers, then entrees) and each time had to come back to confirm before putting them in. Puzzling as the first time she wrote it down so maybe she just needs to work on her shorthand but she was very nice and friendly and it made us chuckle. Everything came out as ordered.
I loved the ambience. Moody and live plants are my vibe 10/10. It was however, really loud despite the tables only being about half full. We assume it’s unavoidable with the concrete floors and wood ceilings not having much material to help soundproof. Despite sitting side by side in the booth, we found ourselves having to lean over and speak loudly to be heard. I don’t mind the hustle and bustle but it may need to be taken into consideration for those hard of hearing or if you’re looking for a quiet romantic spot.
Food was underwhelming. Perhaps it was due to our late night stop, but for instance the stock photos and other reviews show 2 pieces of octopus for the app while we received one. The noodles in the Sunday Gravy were a tad crunchy and undercooked. Good portion sizes though for both pastas.
Overall, when comparing to some of our other high end favorites, we would choose them over here; and probably...
Read moreOkay such a let down. Let me start by saying Paseo is really new(under 2 months). However for the price $80-$100 per person It was a miss.
A decided to take a friend for her Birthday dinner. We ordered the Octopus, Hamachi, Sunday Gravy & Cauliflower.
I'll start with the positive, the atmosphere 10/10. Service 8/10. The Octopus was the one dish that delivered. Delish!
The Hamachi needed salt, it was an easy fix but I never got it when I asked.
The Sunday Gravy was 2/10, there was a sour flavor and the pasta was not el dente but hard still. My Cauliflower dish was raw, baked Cauliflower should have some give but it was like cutting into a raw head of cauliflower + over salted.
I didn't send anything back which in hindsight I wish I had. Maybe they just had a rough moment in the kitchen when I ordered & could have redeemed themselves.
But I have family and friends in the food industry and try not to be that "person"
So big question, would I recommend it? For an app & round of cocktails YES. For a dinner to drop $200 NO. They need to get their arms around execution of their dishes to deliver on price point. Will I give them another try for dinner.
I always give new restaurants a 2nd chance but I...
