Update: As of 12/22, pricing between this Market Basket and Stop & Shop isn't that much different. Market Basket has been increasing prices, while Stop & Shop has been reducing prices. Reasons to shop here have really dwindled down to taking advantage of sale prices of a few isolated items on sale but then pay attention to Stop & Shop's sales (especially front page, instant savings, and bonus gas points) and what you can find there would easily offset the items cheaper here.
Of course, I find that a lot of store brand processed foods here are cheaper than anywhere else (and of course, they do it to attract the crowd because store brand processed stuff traditionally carries higher margins). I find any natural foods and HBC is comparatively expensive to other stores, especially when compared to Trader Joe's. Some of it is because there isn't that much store brand choices that focus on the natural/organic spectrum. But then again, the natural/organic foods they do have is poorly merchandised. For example, store brand nuts and trail mix is combined with cheaper trail mix with tons of artificial colors and preservatives but all of it is merchandised to give you the impression that even the cheaper stuff is marked as all natural.
Service is very variable here and on average, other stores are better. Try to use an internet coupon, and they will be scrutinized closely. I've had perfectly fine internet coupons get rejected here that I redeemed at Stop & Shop or CVS without...
Read moreWas there on may 18th ... the employee was putting up chicken, had no mask and sneezed, he did sneeze in his elbow, management were there and wearing mask, the other employee at the meat counter had no mask and he was having a conversation with a manager. Dont the rules apply to everyone? It is the law now right? Are they privileged? Wont be going back there for fear of the virus. Also mask are not being worn right , your nose is suppose to be covered. In Nashua last week there were 3 customers who were not in a mask ,sign on the door no enforcement. No enforcement on senior shopping hours. Just a big smoke screen. Today I was there and tim the manager for 42 years was not wearing a mask and some of the employees were not wearing a mask, but yet they will come over the intercom and say that customers must follow the arrows in the store, and that these are the CDC guidelines, well doesn't that mean mask as well, sign on the door says mask are required with 42 years of experience I would think that the managers would enforce this.also as I was entering the aisle the employee was on a step ladder putting items on a shelf, as I was entering the aisle he came down from the ladder and crashed right into me. So much for looking to see if...
