I parked in front of the store as it was the closest spot to a neighboring business that I was visiting in the same shopping center. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia and Plantar Fasciitis, all of which are extremely painful all by their lonesome. I'm having a flare up of the plantar fasciitis and needed to park as closely as possible because of the pain that I am in. I do not have a handicap sticker yet. When I returned to my car someone from the bookstore had placed a note on my window statng that the space I parked in was for the bookstore. I looked around for signs about assigned spots because I was going to apologize for parking there and explain why I had done so. There are no signs indicating assigned spaces. At this point I am annoyed and irritated because it seemed discourteous to leave a note about it. I called later that day because although I was upset, I still wanted to apologize and just let them know I did not intend to make them mad. I also wanted to point out that had there been a sign stating the spots were for the store I would not have parked there. The person that I was talking to said that wasn't true, that there are assigned spaces. However, none are marked and they never have been in the 37 years I've been going there. The note was not nasty, but it was however in poor taste and unnecessary. She said she was sorry I felt that way but in no way apologized for leaving the note. She said that some bookstore patrons have disabilities too so that space is for them. I understand where she is coming from, but what I dont understand is how she could be so cold and unapologetic after I explained my situation to her. She told me I should be more courteous and that I was rude for parking g in her spot. That was offensive. I was going out of my way to smooth things over and she was insulting me. She said she didnt need to hear anything I had to say and hung up on me. Unfortunately what it boils down to is her patrons are superior and she has called dibs on the space out front and it doesn't matter if you're pain, you should park farther away if you're not going to buy something from her. It's not even a handicapped space. The neighboring business I used has been made aware that she did this. It won't deter me, but it may deter others and result in a loss of business for them and that would be unfortunate for them. The kicker is that I had planned to visit her store and most likely make a purchase before I found that note.

Read moreWell do I have a story! I am a huge bibliophile and one of the biggest joys of my life is to be able to go to indie bookstores and browse. But the best of those experiences are when I get to bond with the owner of the bookstore. When I moved to Delaware, I was beyond disappointed. A bunch of the best indie bookstores had just recently closed down due to covid and I had access to no bookstores. I was depressed so much that my husband started taking me on long drives in the weekends just to find cute indie places for me to explore. A couple days ago, a friend of mine told me about this bookstore and how cute and adorable it was. Then I looked it up and read the article they wrote about Connie (the owner) and her gorgeous and energetic personality and her love of books. Well it was a wonderful experience! Connie showed me to my favorite genre shelves and she literally brought me a stool to help me browse. We talked sooo much about books it was amazing! Even my husband who is not crazy into books enjoyed himself, Connie helped him find some "factual" history books and constantly got him water when he was dehydrated! In the meantime a bunch of costumers came in and all of them were "my people". Sweet, bibliophiles, and super interesting! As for the books, the selections were limited but beyond Beautiful and the prices are unbelievably low! I found some really cool stuff, New Directions poetry paperbacks from the 70s, feminist essay collections by my favorite yet obscure authors, and an copy of Gunter Grass's flounder! Will be going back there for sure, as this is exactly what I was hoping for in a bookstore! Best of luck to Connie and her amazing mission with the books! People should visit her store as often...
Read moreI was in town at an Airbnb and wanted a book to read while I was relaxing. I looked up used bookstores and found this gem. This is a LOVELY bookstore and the owner, Constance, is a such a delight! She came over and asked if I needed anything, then let me browse after telling me how nice I looked, lol. As I was checking out, she suggested a book by an author I was familiar with, that I might like. I really appreciated that and wound up buying that one as well. We then got into a nice conversation before I finally left. I could stay in the store for hours. I would say she could use better signage and maybe an easel or something so that people riding by would know that this bookstore exists, as it's tucked away in a corner. But I'll definitely return, it's not that far from home, because I honestly enjoyed...
