Originally went to this establishment to have the front of my daughters homecoming dress fixed. It was puffy in the front, and very unflattering.
They were able to accommodate my quick request for a consult to fix the dress. We went and they attempted to take in the dress on the area that was puffy, and the lady stated, taking it in would make it worse, and opted to put padding in the bust area to pull the fabric.
When she showed us what it was supposed to look like and we agreed we saw a difference-(we did) we are also not knowledgeable in this area so we were really trusting the judgment of the seamstress. We came back a week later and my daughter tried on the dress.
It was really, really tight on top, and the puff in the front seemed to look bigger. She walked out, and they all gave her compliments on how much better it looked however, I really did not see any improvement, and was concerned about how tight it was to zip up. It made my 100lb 5’1 daughter look like she had back cleavage for reference. My daughter and I were given tips to assist the tight at the top issue. Leaving, I still felt very disappointed about the outcome of the dress esp b/c we paid 80$ for it to look puffy and the top being so tight. I expressed my concern to the lady at the front and she asked who I spoke to, I could not see the lady, and just thought there was nothing more they could do so I brushed it off, paid and left.
I walked to my car, and turned around to go back to speak with someone else b/c we were very disappointed with the outcome, and it was not flattering at all. My daughter stated, it looked better during the fitting when they put the padding than when they actually altered the dress- or adding padding to try to alter the dress.
We went back in, and was told there was nothing they could do, and they thought it looked nice. It was clearly still very puffy and I told them my disappointment. I was given the response, that I never had to go through with the consult, and make the changes, and b/c of that I had to pay for the work. I was also reassured that no one would notice b/c the lighting at her dance would be dim.
I read another negative review and had to 100% agree- we went in trusting their vision. We would not have known we would not be satisfied with their work, unless they actually did it. That comment, plus the repeated comments of how much better it looked made me very disappointed. We won’t be returning. Also, this is my -1st ever...
Read moreFirst and foremost I want to express my gratitude for fitting in my dress alteration, they only had a week and so I appreciate it tremendously. I had initially made the appointment for a hem only but when the seamstress began her assessment she wanted to tighten the top of the dress. I did not mind because I am not a seamstress so I figured hey maybe she sees something that I don’t. The dress was intended to have a loose swoop neck and when I initially tried the dress on I loved the top of it, there was no seam evident except for under the breast.
When I picked up the dress the day before the event there was a very noticeable seam across the center of my chest because it was tightened just too much. The swoop appearance that I loved was just about gone. Again I didn’t think to interject because I am not a seamstress so I trusted her judgement. I was told there was nothing that could be done. I really wanted to say this seam was not this high up days ago when I originally brought the dress in but I did not want to seem confrontational or unhappy with how accommodating they were with the short notice.
I should have spoken up that I only wanted the hem and nothing else so I do take responsibility but to spend 130$ and to ultimately be unhappy with the service really stunk. The hem was great, and they accommodated a rushed dress but the top of the dress looked completely different from how I ordered it unfortunately and it was just tightened entirely too much and the look of the...
Read moreHad my first fitting August 5th. Told them what I didn’t like and wanted altered. They said no prob. Second fitting still wasn’t fixed voiced concerns again. Third fitting still wasn’t done and mentioned it and they told me they forgot to do it so to come back for a 4th fitting. Went to pick up today (5 days before wedding) and tried on still wasn’t done and they told me there’s nothing they can do. If it couldn’t be fixed I wish they would have let me know back in august. Now I’m stuck looking for a new dress or somewhere else to take it 5 days before my wedding and out $700.
Edit: I was able to take it somewhere else and had it fixed and perfect in 2 days. Not sure why they couldn’t do it when they had it for 3 months.
First photo is from my last fitting at sophisticated fit. You can see the bunching of the fabric around the waist they claimed there was nothing they could do about. Second photo is after taking it to another seamstress and having it...
