Older Locations that where used by now out of business chains and have been vacant for years in some instances. Automatic front doors that sometime work sometime do not. Enter one side of store but must exit at other end so no matter where you park you either have a walk to the entrance or to your car when you exit. And if you park to the left of the exit you basically have to step into the driveway as the sidewalk is only a foot wide at corner of building. The most cluttered disorganized store in the world (Except Fourway Shopping Displays) In front of store. Advertised Items have potential to be sold out within a day or even same day and there is no rain checks WHILE SUPPLY LASTS and that's the truth if you are going just for something in AD call ahead if you are driving as far as I have to. Store is far from clean floors are old and worn carts are as bad as Walmarts. and NO CART CORRAL in parking lot. Parking lot is a joke to lines for spaces where worn off years ago and when entering the lot you have to take sharp right down grade and into a dip then hard left to opposite end. I exit around the side and back of the store where they have another parking lot that is never used personally I believe they should have rear entrance to this location along with the front.
And all that said this is still my FAVORITE CHAIN to shop in any category except clothing which is Boscov's. The Best for finding TOY DEALS for value, unique harder to find toys, Figures, Die-cast Vehicles, Model Kits and they have a girls section too. You will not find Newly released Toys put you will find the best values by far and at a fraction of Reg. Retail.
The Book Section is the largest by far then any other competitor alot will have other retail price sticker on them from places like Walmart etc. they are not defective they are just discontinued older stock from warehouses that were never shipped and discontinued and replaced with other titles however if you like paying $1.99 for books priced $9.99 or higher this is the place. Anyone who buys childrens books anywhere other then here is just throwing money away you can get 4 or 5 books for the price you pay other places.
To me shopping at Ollie's is like Xmas when you where a kid surprises everywhere in the store you never know what you will find. Some tips are when you find a super deal buy as much as you can afford because it most likely WILL NOT BE THERE on your next shopping trip. There is no such thing as I will get it next time. If your buying snacks or food that you never tried try some as soon as you get in the car and then go back in and purchase a larger qty. Also check expiration date as alot of product is close coded and may expire in a month or two. Some locations are better then others 1) Allentown Blvd Hbg. 2) Mechanicsburg Pike 3) Park City Lancaster WORST AVOID 1) Pottsville 2) Shillington
Best Sections Personally 1) Toys, Toys, Toys 2) Childrens Books 3) Snacks - Food 4) Seasonal 5) Kitchen...
Read moreHuge store, lots of inventory, and extremely nice employees! I don't understand the reviews that say they don't have anything worth while or the prices aren't comparable to those at a grocery store or department store, bc that is absolutely not true! I mean, where else are you going to find brand name LED light bulbs for $2.99, Febreze Airwick Fresheners and plug-ins for $1.99, towels, lamps, home decor, etc. It's absolutely the best prices around. I'd like the person who's saying they can get the same items in a department store for a cheaper price! The only place I could maybe think of that may match their prices on a very few certain items, is the Boscov's Upstairs Discount area. But people will be people and always find something to complain about! Won't stop me from going to Ollie's all the time! And I'll definitely be changing to the Harrisburg store instead of Mechanicsburg. It's so much bigger with more selection, plus the associates actually know what they're talking about. The only problem I have at Ollie's is that I can stay there for hours to go through all the...
Read moreMy daughter is getting married. She went to Ollie’s to shop for a dress in response to their advertisement which stated they had 11,000 wedding dresses for sale. The store had set up temporary dressing rooms. While we were there Cara helped us take the dresses to the try on area. She took the dresses we didn’t want and very carefully zipped the zip and made sure the straps were all on the hanger and that each was all in the plastic cover and closed at the bottom so the dress would not get dirty. She also insisted on putting the dresses back. Because of this the dresses were nicely organized and easy to look at. The selection was terrific with lots of variety and sizes. Cara was pleasant and helpful, Not pushy, but allowed my daughter to try on as many dresses as she liked. Over all the experience was quite nice. My daughter found a dress she loved for a price that could not be beat!! Way...
