Yesterday was my first time shopping at Bell's Market. I am going to make lemon bars and a friend told me that Bell's Market was selling lemons for 28 cents each. That is a phenomenal price! So, I signed up for a membership card and headed over. I was super impressed with the produce section and prepared foods counter! The produce looked amazing and some of the sale prices were incredible. I ended up not only getting the lemons I needed, but a bunch of other fruits and veggies that I hadn't intended; including some of the freshest/sweetest strawberries I've ever bought at a supermarket! The prepared food counter was equally impressive. I picked up a couple of items I've never seen anywhere else (mushroom blintzes and spinach & feta khachapuri). There were at least a dozen other items I wanted to get, but there are only so many dinners left to make this week :) Throughout the store I saw many international food items not seen in most grocery stores. I love cooking with ingredients I've never tried, so I'll have to research some new recipes. The market is a bit of a drive from my home, but I'll definitely be going back when I'm more prepared. Once I know what I want to make, I can bring a list with me to keep the impulse shopping to...
Read moreNote to store!! Please offer to allow customers to bring in own containers for premade foods. The scales allow for tare weights, but the manager would not allow. The premade food lopls good but it is sold in single use plastics. This sadly is bad for the planet, and many warn it's not good to store and eat oily and fatty foods like meat, grilled veggies, and dressed salads from plastics as the oils can leech microplastic. I would gladly bring in my reuseable glass containers, and buy more items if you would take the time to understand tare weights and how to use you scales.
Interesting markat, mainly Russian Ukranian some Asian. Lots of organic, exotic and different foods as many cultural markets offer. Kimchis, sushi's, salads, meats, precooked and chilled. Tons of pickled foods and olive bar. We came her to buy premade food for lunch. They didn't have forks or spoons to offer either, would be nice if they had some cutlery to grab a healthy cold lunch....but this is more like a grocery store . Produce has some good deals. Worth a stop. Getting car in an out from nearby busy...
Read moreI did send an email about my experience with the Deli Department but no answer. I called today and spoke to Allan who said he was the manager???We are going to buy our cheese and meats somewhere else and only go to Bells when it's an emergency because we are close by. We order cheese and it's not always the brand we ask for. For some reason they push that Sommermaid cheese which is not good. My husband ordered Dietz and Watson not Sommermaid. A few weeks prior I ordered and got Land of Lakes cheese and olive loaf and both were NOT FRESH. I had to feed it to my dogs. Another issue is the lady who slices our cheese. She has black hair (no glasses) and doesn't speak just smiles. We ask for the cheese to be sliced thin and she shows us a slice and it's good but when we get home it's so thick. She slices a few slices thin then she does the rest 2 time thicker. If we ever have to go to Bell's for cheese and it's not what we ordered or sliced too thick, we will also leave it on the shelf just like your other customer did. I have no problem with the other products in the store...
