Note: I am writing this from my fiance's Google account, because I myself do not have one.
DO NOT get anything tailored at Tailor's Touch. I entrusted them to alter my mom's wedding dress so I could wear it on my wedding day, and I am just glad to have the dress back and in one piece.
Here is a brief summary of my horrifying experience:
First, they lowered the waist seam to my hip and tried to convince me that this is where it should be, and that I shouldn't use a sash to cover the OBVIOUS seam. I told them I'd rather have the seam at the waist, and after what seemed like an overly lengthy discussion, they relented to doing so. I didn't even mention the sash anymore because I didn't feel like arguing.
Next, I came back and discovered that to my surprise, they re-did the back of the dress in a way that was not approved by me. This was OK, as I admit that I like the change, but I am not OK that they did this without my permission first.
THEY LOST MY MOM'S HANDMADE PETTICOAT! In fact, this brings me to my next point...
The whole place is a pigsty. It's amazing they can even find anything in that mess. The A/C doesn't properly work in the dressing rooms, and the bathroom has flypaper hanging straight down from the ceiling - classless. The doors don't even have doorstops to keep them open, just a piece of loose string that gets tied to a robe hook on the side of the wall. Oh and I hope you don't have a lot to try on because there's only ONE OTHER HOOK ON THE WALL.
Every time I went in to try this dress (about 4 times), it was crumpled over the middle part of a plastic hanger - and every time they did this, more of the sequins got ripped off. It was MORTIFYINGLY DISRESPECTFUL.
Because the "hip seam" had to be drawn up to the waist, the whole dress went up. I now can't use the original shoes I planned to wear because then the dress would be too short.
Earlier, they also convinced me that boning would not be necessary inside the dress. When I tried the dress on the last time (after it was "done"), the top part of the dress showed signs of collapse - it needed the boning that they so argued against putting in. I hate arguing, and so does my mom, so it looks like we're doing that too.
I had to pay EVEN MORE THAN EXPECTED for this whole experience. Because they charge by the hour, I had to pay for THEIR MISTAKES.
I'm sorry for this long harangue but I feel like everyone should know and avoid the place. I trusted this company because I saw they had positive reviews on Google, but I should have paid more attention to the...
Read moreDisaster! I had taken my daughters "new" formal dress for some simple alterations under the underarm area. Lena was the "seamstress". During the fitting, Lena suggested adding Kremlin underneath the dress, for an additional $25.00. I requested the dress be ready a day earlier than she stated. That was an additional cost of $5.00. I had taken my daughter out of school early to pick up the dress because Lena was leaving at 3:00 p.m., the day of pick up. At 2:40 p.m., we went to pick up the dress. Wow! Lena had actually sewn the halter open back straps to the back of the dress! Now, there was no way for my daughter to get in or out of the dress! Also, as Lena was handing me the dress, she stated "I put Kremlin underneath but it really didn't do nothing." When I asked her what happened, she said, "do you know how much Kremlin cost?" I replied, I paid $25.00! Thats what you stated it would cost. Now it didnt really make a difference, and you want to imply its the customers fault, that I didn't pay enough for it, to make a difference, and you want to keep the money you charged for it! Now, Lena who was very nice at the fitting, was very sarcastic and nasty. I asked her, what's the sense of recommending something, if you were not going to make good on it. I told Lena it appeared she misrepresented just for the sole purpose of adding an additional $25.00 to the already astronomic bill of $68.90!!! Most importantly, the bill had to be paid in full prior to alterations. Therefore, at this point, I had to leave the dress for the manager Scott who was coming in later that evening. When we returned later that evening, my daughter was fitted by Scott, the manager, who appeared very annoyed and cold! To make matters worse, it was evident, directly on the front of the dress, the thread holding the sequins had been torn and the sequins was falling off. This was not the condition the dress, was purchased or had been left earlier. Scott, told us to come back in 30+ minutes for the dress. After our 3rd time in one "school evening" to pick up a dress, that was to of had, very simply alterations, my daughter and I were finished. At 8:45 p.m. we went to pick up her dress. Sadly the alterations were not what we set out for, not what I paid $68.90 for. Furthermore, the manager, Scott was not a bit apologetic, and was very bitter and annoyed and definetly lacked customer service. Horrible! Horrible! I was a first time customer and a last...
Read moreUnwelcomed comments: I am new to the area and was looking for a tailor and came across Tailor's Touch numerous great reviews. I was greeted kindly by the woman at the front desk and advised me the fitting rooms were in use and to have a seat. After I put on the dress to be altered and went to the front, the front woman called Scott (owner) over to address my concern. No greeting at all; just more like my request is a bother for him. He had no rapport as a business owner to greet potential new clients and honestly, didn't feel like continuing my conversation with him. However, I wanted to see if perhaps the tailor service would surpass my initial experience.
The dress (meant for a taller torso and a flat chest) had a deep V and needed the shoulder top part of a dress to be taken in (me: petite woman with a chest and a short torso and needed the shoulder top part of dress to be taken in. He had the audacity to say, "if you had better breasts, the dress would fit better." I was shocked to hear a business owner himself would be nonprofessional as he gave his "expertise." Sad to see he believes that is acceptable to speak to clients. Note I had my mammogram done today and the Breast Center rated me chest differently.
He then advised he can do the service but then he doesn't want to hear complaints about the cinching by the sides and front. I was wondering why he brought up about complaining. After reading the bad reviews, now it makes sense why Scott mentioned complaints. His alternative suggestion is to buy a dress one size up
His delivery in choice of words is so far from what I'm used to; I deal with of respectful and professional business owners who take pride in their clients and service. I'm satisfied I am able to seek a different tailor for top notch service. I will not be returning. From my encounter with Scott; I got a realization that even in sunny Florida there are persons who always give off the vibe they are having a bad day and display it on others. You can't pay anyone to change that. You have to want to change your aura yourself from within. Given how many not so great reviews from past clients or potential clients, Scott's demeanor...
