The Mill Bayou neighborhood water supply was shutoff in the latter part of January with no prior text, email, or any other type of communication. When I called the Utilities Department, they said they thought the work would only impact five homes. In reality it impacted the entire neighborhood. They must have the inability to read piping diagrams to determine impact. This is a new neighborhood so those documents do exist.
On February 5, the water was turned off again for the Minge Branch tie-in to the water main. We did receive a text notification for this outage, but it contained no projected start/end times. This is vital information for planning a day. I called the Utilities Department and after some checking I was told to expect an outage from 8 am to 2 pm. Well, the water was turned off at 7:20 am and service wasn’t restored until 6:10 pm. Eleven hours. There were no text or other notifications during the day with any updates. I called the office twice to get updates and was told I needed to talk with the supervisor, Danny. I left voicemail and a day later he still hasn’t responded. My house faces the work that was done and it seems like they did significantly more work during the outage than just a tie-in, while impacting water service for the residents. This office seriously needs to improve their planning, communication to residents, and their...
Read moreUtilities department is very unprofessional. Their auto-pay service is outdated and not user friendly. Furthermore it is unable to process or reprocess banking errors or account snafus like any other service. Due to an account error that I was not aware of, the utility department cut my service without notice. They sent me no cut-off notice to indicate there was an issue and did not attempt to redraw the amount due from the auto pay account. When people have been successful and on time in Payments for over two years there should be some grace period and advance notice before shutting off utilities with no notice. Lynn Haven citizens pay for sewage and water despite water being backed up into properties and streets ALL THE TIME. There was a water main break on my street for over a week. Where is our money going? Why aren’t there curbs and functional sewer lines? The citizens do not “stop payment” on taxes or utilities when the utilities department has a problem or fails to provide service, why should they treat us...
Read moreMy water was disconnected with no notice via email or phone because my card on file was canceled due to fraud, so the automated payment never went through. Yes, it was my card that was canceled, but come on - 2 weeks late and it gets disconnected?!!? I’ve had perfect automated payments for 5+ years. They only give you a 15 day grace period from the due date & charge a $50 reconnection fee.
I asked why I wasn’t ever sent a text or email with a notification & they said they didn't have my contact information on file. Makes zero sense considering the form you fill out has all of your contact information and you use an email to login to pay your bill.
I asked if a piece of mail was sent out with a simple reminder. They said they don’t mail reminders.
I asked if I could add my checking account instead of my card, they don’t accept checking accounts as forms of payment.
Enjoy the...
