Seemed very friendly. I did inquire about pricing, I knew bouncing stylist's it would be pricey again to start over since Hurricane Michael. - $250 I grasped & choked down "ok" but to charge me that for ea touch up? Way over priced.
The first time I've ever had to sign a contract to have my hair done. The music was BLARING...WAY to loud, louder than being in a night club. I was shocked at the price, but went along with it, my hair REALLY needed to be done again. I was ok with it. It was blow dried out SO flat to my head I couldn't make sense of it. I wasn't expecting to have the color process that I had, but it did work out, it's basically a semi permanent, so I was in the bowl about half an hour (it seemed) and the stylist didn't tell me ahead of time that was the plan. SO- I'm laying in the bowl for half an hour (thinking it's just a few) staring at a black ceiling with 80's-90's club music BLASTING. I inquire about the cost of future touch ups.."about the same" ???
what?
I did contact the owner, and boy she was combative, I couldn't get her to focus on my hair, she was rude, thankfully, I was not, and more polite, ALL she could go on about was the stupid CONTRACT for the price of the color and cut.
"please lady, just tell me what was done to my hair...I'm not complaining, I'm not saying she did a horrible job...I'm just kind of shocked at what do to do with this and the price" Her name is Renee I do believe and she is the owner.
SO...I get her and her contract calmed down, got the information for what was put on my hair for the next salon, (they need to know, I wanted to know...because I can't pay $250. ea time my hair needs a touch up.
I have since had surgery on both eyes, I've left a message, to request that Renee please review the charges and see if I REALLY am that expensive to touch up or changes that could be made.
No call. NO call back.
SO- if you want a $250 every 8-12 weeks even just to touch up your roots, deal only in contracts on and not personable about your style, color, etc. and then must calm down the owner, sure go there. Me? I'm the customer and since Hurricane Michale, it seems the customer is NEVER right. NEVER put first. ESPECIALLY if they're hurricane Michale imperfect still.
I also requested an experienced stylists, I think my stylist was kind, helpful, she's been styling hair for a few years. I don't consider that experienced. I think about 10-15 yrs I should have put that on the phone contract. Perhaps things were not normal that day BECAUSE Renee wasn't there, but she took it out on me.
And I still tried to come back because I can't keep...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been looking for a hair salon for quite some time that I would be happy with. Before hurricane Michael, I had a fantastic hair stylist who listened and was not afraid to cut my hair. After my first hair cut with her, I fully trusted her, enough to give her creative liberty to do whatever to my hair and she never disappointed. Post Michael I have not been able to find a trusted hair stylist. And with my hair now going through a lot of unforseen changes, mostly do to aging, its been beyond difficult to get a descent trim. My hair is naturally curly and can be deceiving. So many stylist shy away. Yesterday I tried Olivia Lane for the first time. My first impression when walking in was, ok this is nice. The receptionist was pleasant and even informative about the hair products they have. My appointment was with Ashley. And I must say, she was phenomenal. Ashley listened to every word and concerns I had. I loved how she understood my hair is in a weird phase, curly in some parts and straight in others, but was not scared to cut. I was impressed when she said she was going to cut as much of the dead straight ends off first then wash and treat my hair so she could get a true sense of how much my hair curls afterwards to help me determine a length I would be happy with; since my hair is not growing as fast as it once did I am hesitant to have short cuts which I use to love. After my cut, Candice came over to simply style my new curly bangs. Not that Ashley could not, she just wanted Candice to school me on curly bangs as she to has naturally curly hair. Someone else may not have appreciated one stylist consulting in another, but I did appreciate it since I have never had curly bangs before. Both stylist helped me understand that with having androgenic alopecia all hope is not lost and I can still have fabulous hair. I did purchase a product to help with hair growth and hair lost. I have tried everything else and see a dermatologist for my condition, not much has helped, but I figured one more products that was not costing me an arm and leg was worth trying. Thank you Ashley, Candice, and the staff at Olivia Lane for your professionalism. If anyone is looking for a salon that listens, friendly, clean, knowledgeable, and is up with new product and trends, book you appointment with Olivia Lane. My hair has some ways to go before I'm able to feel good about it, but at this moment in time I'm the happiest I can be with it. Thank you Ashley. ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would give this salon the full five stars, due to a great ambiance and use of high end products, but I have to say, some of the stylists can be a bit snobby. Iāve gone there twice now and feel that a good enough job was done on my hair, but I didnāt feel much warmth coming from the stylists. Last summer in August I had my hair done with Erin. We chatted and things appeared normal, and I made myself clear how at that time I was content with the products I was using at home, that were in no way cheap or damaging brands, but she still wanted to sell me things at check out. No big deal. When I repeated myself, that I already had things I liked to use, she responded with āYEA I heard that oneā. I remember thinking, well if you heard, why continue to ask? Walked away, didnāt say bye as I left, and when I returned a few days ago to have my hair done with Scarlett, Erin acted as if sheād never seen me before. Sure itās been some months, but Iām sure she recognized her own work, and we did make eye contact. Scarlett did a great job but seemed to think I was completely uneducated about hair. Iām university educated and well versed in hair chemistry, color theory, levels, etc. Once she realized I wasnāt up to being schooled, she seemed to not want to engage in any friendly convo at all. She barely spoke for the rest of the appointment. With respect, this is a hair salon. People come in to have colors and cuts etc, with no promise to buy product. The attitude of the stylist shouldnāt change once the they realize someone isnāt interested in purchasing more then what they booked. Perhaps itās a commission based sales system. Nonetheless. Like I said, this is a well enough salon but prepare to be snobbed out from...
