The firing range was excellent. clean, well managed, and awesome customer service and interaction. Their gunsmith is experienced, polite, and efficient as well. The reason for my poor rating however, is with their sales staff, and with the serving staff at molly pitchers (their restaurant within the facility).
I typically frequent HVG often, getting food and using their ranges. overall, i would say their range is their golden goose of the establishment.
For their sales staff: Their staff are the equivalent to an antisocial hermit. they don't seem to prioritize potential customers when they have questions, or are interested in a specific item. Additionally, if you happen to find something worth purchasing, be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes at an unattended register for someone to show up to actually ring you up. Ironically you will watch several HVG employees walk past you and wonder why you are standing there with discontent. (there are a select few employees that shine brighter than this review, and thoroughly enjoy their customer service and knowledgebase)
For the Serving staff: I was the first to arrive during my lunch hour, ordering food as usual. the restaurant was empty with the exception of one other customer, and the server. i ordered an appetizer for lunch. while i was waiting, several other customers had arrived, ordered, and recieved their food, then left. i waited 42 minutes for my order to get to my table. the servers were vulgar, and borderline absentee's. when i finally got my food, it was cold, and my lunch hour had ran over because of it. (Note* i typically order the same dish every time i eat at molly pitchers, which takes less than 15 minutes to make from my experience).
I will note, that the serving staff working at the time, were servers i had not met before (leading me to believe they were new). all previous encounters have been positive, and the food was excellent.
This review reflects the past few experiences i have had since visiting HVG. it is a beautiful establishment, with an excellent display of firearms, tasty food, and well kept ranges. however if the customer service continue this path of decline, it may not be the best option for those looking for a quality experience...
Read moreDo not come here! This store has the worst customer service, highest prices around, and no knowledge about the products they sell. I have been coming to Huron Valley since they opened because they are the closest gun store to me. I have consistently had terrible experiences with every interaction and type of service.
Customer service is terrible. Every time I have been there, I have had to wait for assistance or seek out an employee. Employees will stand and talk to each other, acknowledge you, and continue to tell stories. I have waited over an hour for a gun service that should take 15-20 minutes because the employees stop to tell stories with each other multiple times. I have had family and friends share this same experience. Transfer times are also extremely slow. I have transferred multiple firearms here, and every time it takes weeks after delivery to be told it's ready for pick up. If you inquire about the status, they will only say, "we'll call you when it's ready."
Their gun knowledge is lacking. I had a friend buy an AK47, and the employee told him he needed to register it as a pistol because it had a folding stock. It was a rifle with a 16-inch barrel and did NOT meet the ATF regulations for a pistol. Another friend purchased a mossberg Shockwave, which WAS a pistol, while under the age of 21, and they had to ask him to bring it back because he was not legally allowed to buy it. I do not claim to know everything, but the employees are extremely lacking in knowledge about the products they sell.
Consignment is a gamble. After several months of no updates, I went into the store to be told it had sold. I was never called or texted, as I was told, would happen during the consignment process. They did not know when it was sold or provide any paperwork.
This is by far the worst store I have ever done business at and recommend going...
Read moreI've purchased two guns at Huron Valley and sold one to them over the course of the past 15 months. Let me start by saying I'm a young (22) male. Unfortunately this means that for some reason I get poor customer service at about every gun store I go to in South Eastern Michigan. So it was a nice surprise when I walked into Huron Valley and got treated just like anyother normal customer. No age discrimination experienced; which really is a huge problem in this market. However, this only covers most of their workers. I've encountered one that insisted on being rude and talked down to me. Basically tried to coax me into buying a more expensive gun becuase "i didn't know what i really wanted". Their older crew is all great guys. Great to talk to, great to interact with and are real enthusiasts; not just business men. I've overpaid for guns and I'll do it again if they continue to treat me the way they do.
Selection of new guns was good, not great. Good selection of handguns. I don't know how they can not have more than 2-3 Savage and Remington rifles combined for ~5 months. But again, that same rude man told me that so maybe that was part of his spiel to try and get me to purchase a more expensive gun. Their used long gun selection isn't that large either but they almost always seem to have something really cool that you can't find everywhere and I really appreciate that. They have a good selection of common accessories; pretty much all they can do for the size store they are. Primers, bullets, loaded ammo, holsters, magazines, etc.
I find myself stopping in every month or so to check out what they have. I try to support them whenever I can. That being said, if that one worker I don't like is in the store I just turn around...
