One Star – Misleading Service and Poor Communication
I almost never leave bad reviews, but this time I feel I have to. I’m a truck driver, and I often stop at Mexican restaurants on the road. I usually order quesabirria — three tacos with juicy birria meat, dipping sauce, and sometimes rice and beans. I know this dish well and enjoy it often.
At this place, I walked in and ordered quesabirria with rice and beans. The man at the counter (possibly the owner) asked how many I wanted. I said three. I also ordered a chicken quesadilla to go — one meal for now, one for later. I do this all the time.
Later, they brought out several boxes — way more than expected. When I asked why, the man said, “That’s what you ordered.” I opened them and saw something that didn’t look like the quesabirria tacos I know. It was something else — large quesadilla-style things filled with birria meat and sauce. I said, “This isn’t what I ordered.” He said, “That’s quesabirria.” I told him, “No, I always order quesabirria, and I always get tacos.”
Then he said, “Oh, you didn’t say taco quesabirria.” That was never a problem at any other place I’ve been. Everywhere else, you say quesabirria, and they give you the traditional tacos. He didn’t bother to ask or explain that his place has different versions. He just made his own choice and charged me for it.
The food was average at best. I ended up paying over $60 instead of the usual $25 I spend at most Mexican places. I should have just walked out, but I was tired and hungry.
I don’t know if this is how they always treat customers, or if I just got unlucky — but I felt tricked. And he didn’t care. No apology, no effort to fix it. Just took my money and moved on.
So here’s my honest warning: double-check your order, ask for a menu, and make sure they don’t decide for you. I won’t be...
Read moreCan't figure out the positive reviews here. It started off bad from the second we walked in the door tonight. Walked in, there was not one patron in the restaurant, nor one employee to be found. We waited almost 5 minutes before someone came from the kitchen to seat us.
After that - it got worse. We ordered and had questions and the waitress said she would come back to answer our questions about menu items - she never did.
I also ordered a fajita salad with no beans. The waitress said, "No beans?" I said, " No beans." About 15 minutes after ordering, mind you - we were the only people in the place, she said they were out of something my child ordered. Okay. Carry on and order something else.
About 15 minutes after that (30 mins after ordering) we received our food in parts. My fajita salad was LOADED with beans. When I asked her about it, she said, "You didn't ask for that." She offered to replace it - and I told her I was over it and I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes. She didn't apologize or anything.
She never came back to our table. We didn't have enough silverware at our table for three of us. I got my own. Our party was out of drinks, needed their sides (ranch, salsa, etc.) And she simply came back and put the bill down about 20 mins later. No one else was in the restaurant.
I told her I was unimpressed. No sorry - no manager - no anything. I never ate.
Our son went to put hot sauce on his meal and the bottle at the table was so caked and disgusting, it wouldn't come out. I switched bottles from another table - same thing. Caked on yuck all down the sides of bottles.
We will never return. Terrible service and my family said their food was bland. I never got a chance to eat - so...
Read moreBrings me no joy to say that this was some of the worst food I've ever had. Everything seemed to come out of some kind of jar or can or be a leftover that they reheated. The jalapeño margarita was literally a margarita mix with canned jalapeño slices and a dash of brine from the can. Very little, if any, liquor. Our server literally crouched down behind the bar while making our drinks to hide what they were made of. The salsa tasted like it was heavily diluted with tap water--very flavorless and thin. The guacamole barely had any avocado in it and was mostly diced onions and tomatoes. Lastly, the burrito and enchilada entrees we ordered were both cooked by Chef Mic(rowave) and were extremely dry and flavorless. How they managed to make a 'wet burrito' and enchiladas suizas dry and bland is beyond me. For the nearly $40/person that we spent here, I would have rather feasted at Taco Bell and thrown the remaining $25 savings out...
