Wish I could write a happy review, but I would not want another bride to have to go through the same experience as I had here. I was referred to this location from Everthine Bridal Boutique to have my wedding gown altered. To start, the prices are outrageous, for a hem, to let out sides less than an inch and a small lace removal on a simple/pIain gown I was quoted initially $900. The price was graciously reduced to $600. After the first fitting, I brought up some concerns over fit and I was told to not tell her "how to do my job" and that "brides come from all over to have the dress fit the way it does". I was also told that if I called the boutique where I purchased the gown with any complaints she "would not do the alterations". After the second fitting, the dress fit even worse and truly looked like a loose sack. My mother in law brought up concerns and was given the same defensive replies. I decided that I was going to stop alterations at this location and requested to take my dress. I was told "it is against the law" and after I agrued that point I was told "it is against the contract". After re-reading the contract in front of Lena I pointed out there is nothing in the contract that prohibits me taking my own dress. I was then provided a blank sheet of paper and requested to write on my own why I was taking the gown. The lack of craftsmanship, professionalism and outrageous prices is hopefully enough to deter brides. It is unnecessary stress to have to unfortunately deal with this business. I was able to find someone who salvaged the gown, had to completely un-stitch and re-sew, hem, and add beautiful lace details all to make it fit perfectly for a very...
Read moreI used Angie Lu Tailors nearly 10 years ago for alterations to my wedding dress. In going through old photos, I was reminded of what a terrible experience we had here. I purchased a vintage gown for $150. It needed to be let out a bit and I requested straps and pockets be added (I supplied the lace for the straps). We were quoted $500-$600. I originally told my mother we should find somewhere else, but she insisted so I decided to have the alterations done here. Two weeks before the wedding, we went to pick up my finished, cleaned and “pressed” dress. It looked like it had been crumpled up in a bag the entire time it was there. When asked about it, I was told we could come back another day to pick it up. I lived an hour away and did not have time to waste with it being so close to the wedding, so we took it somewhere else. They pressed the dress and were appalled at how much we spent for the alterations that were made, especially since we were given a dress that had clearly not been finished. When I wrote a letter stating how unhappy I was and requesting at least a partial refund, I was told to contact a lawyer. I know it’s been a long time since my experience happened, but it still makes me upset to this day knowing that we were swindled by this place. I have a photo of what my dress looked like when it was supposedly finished, which I have posted. I don’t know if practices have changed since I was a customer, but I would still be wary. Based on some other reviews, it doesn’t seem much...
Read moreLena is an absolute gem in a business that deals with an art that is becoming obsolete and some of us really appreciate that. Not only is tailoring a gown incredibly pain staking in itself that requires a life long amount of endless evolution and the styles and construction of gowns evolve, but they are also the face of your wedding or special event and can often have to balance the clients nerves, anxieties and insecurities along with the initial job at hand which is to tailor your gown.
The shop/studio itself is absolutely beautiful with a newly remodeled alteration section complete with immaculate herringbone floors that you can eat off of, a wet bar, and coffee/espresso.
You go in feeling like the only person in the store. Pinning a gown doesn’t take long, it’s completely painless. The service itself is incredible. I walk in and they know me by name, the employees are very nice and accommodating.
I’ve had 3 gowns tailored here to perfection and had a custom Italian suit (which they sell in the shop) tailored to perfection.
When investing in a special gown, you should also invest in a perfect tailoring job. The 1st thing I notice when at a wedding is a dress that could’ve been perfect, if only the tailoring was taken more seriously.
Lena and her employees are invaluable to us and will obviously continue to utilize and refer...
