“Attempted” to try como mango this past weekend, and I have to say very disappointmented on how we were treated while visiting this establishment. A friend of mine and myself were visiting the beach, and wanted a lovely lunch together. Coming into como mango there are no proper signs on where we should of entered so we went through the back as we saw others do. Coming inside was not a warm friendly welcoming environment what so ever. We were seated a two person table, but oddly it was attached to another party’s table. I felt like I sat down with a group of strangers having lunch together. So close in seating at the table I felt as if the other party was listening to our conversation. Let alone we can smell their fraganecss that’s how close we were. On top of that, after waiting 10 minutes we finally got our menus. As me and my friend are talking i had the realization that this family sitting at a table near us received their dinner when we first sat down, and now they were getting ready to leave and finished before I put my order in. About 20 minutes… the waiters were walking around us too being tentative to already seated guests. Very poor service. I felt unwelcomed and judged the moment we walked in the door. We never tried the food, we ended up walking out,...
Read moreWe drive to the Connecticut beaches very often, every season, mostly for walking/launching in the wintertime. We recently researched the Westbrook/Madison areas for Mexican restaurants and decided to give Comomango a try. It did not disappoint, in fact, it is a beautiful gem in the Shoreline. The restaurant is located on Wall Street in a super nice historical building, tastefully decorated in the interior. Even the unisex bathrooms were super pleasing for the eyes. My husband had the cranberry blood orange margarita and it was outstanding. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio - must command the bartender as I watched him carefully examining the wine glasses for spotlessness prior to serving the wine. We asked for chips and salsa and my husband’s choice was the adobo pork ribs and I opted for the chicken enchilada winter special with salsa verde. Our food was excellent, I even told a nice waiter that the enchiladas were so good it should be part of the regular menu. We cannot wait to return and enjoy the outdoor seating area in warmer weather. If I may make a tiny suggestion, it would be for the chips and salsa. The chips should be served warm; otherwise, it is an outstanding, unique restaurant with great service and...
Read moreOh boy, where do I even begin. I would give no stars but then I wouldn’t be able to share my horrible experience at this tacky place. I was a party of two, the waiter sat us down at a very obvious four person table that was divided in half. With that being said, I felt like I was apart of the other people’s conversations, absolutely no personal space. I did not even smell the food, I smelt everyone’s perfume which is disgusting. Considering Covid and the spacing restrictions then, I felt like a canned sardine and it was awful! Additionally after 10 whole minutes we finally received the menu and some water. We witnessed a table get their food, finish and leave. Not one person took our order so we finally left after 20 minutes.
Side note: we wanted a place to eat after our visit from the beach. This place is so judgmental. I was having a conversation and I can tell the surrounding parties were ease dropping. Just an awful experience, it’s extremely clear they cater to a certain type of demographic and it was very clear I was not part of said demographic. Save yourself a trip and don’t bother. I truly hope this...
