It's a super feminist store (nothing wrong with that, but should be named appropriately).
I drove 2 hours to pick up my son after his last class for the day, to just go "hang out" together on Monroe Street, have lunch, visit the funky shops. We had an awesome day together, THEN this was the last place we visited.
My son wasn't even greeted by the woman with purple hair when he entered, but I was immediately (he's always taken pride in holding doors open for women, very polite, courteous, etc.). As we excitedly started to explore, it was quick to see that the store is almost entirely devoted to "female empowerment".
While I think that's a great idea, I didn't like how it felt like my son (even though we've always enjoyed smelling nice candles, soaps, funky art, etc together since he was a toddler) wasn't "welcome" there, just for being a guy.
I cut the visit short, and as we were leaving, I was kinda seething. The purple haired lady thanked me as I was leaving (I didn't say a thing), my son said, "Thank you! You've got a really cool store! Have a good day!" he only got a "thanks".
It should really be called something like "Women and Women First", not a generic...
Read moreRecently attended a junk journaling art class here and had the coziest Sunday evening. Everyone was warm and kind, and the owners are truly so gifted at curating a warm, nurturing and fun vibe. Walking in, I’m usually filled with joy and excitement to explore the selection of art/gifts. There’s always new stuff to browse through and I have to stop myself from going bonkers and buying everything. I usually treat myself to a new candle, art supplies, journal or artwork by Alisson Burda. Safe to say Artsy Fartsy is my happy place! Grateful for the owners for curating such a safe and positive space in our community, where I can get a little retail therapy and also feel good about...
Read moreThis store is the cutest and the owners are absolutely lovely! The first time I visited this store was on a First Friday and the ladies were so warm and welcoming! The second time I visited upon paying for my items, the owner offered me a little discount as she had noticed I was having a frustrating phone conversation and she wanted to brighten my day. It was the kindest and most thoughtful gesture and so very appreciated! The store is full of so many fun little inexpensive treasures; whimsical paper products and cards that are sure to bring a smile to your face! Needless to say, I will come back...
