Jewel Place Senior Living — Local services in Madison

When this facility opened, it was clean and well staffed. My mother lived there for nearly 8 years. The problems grew unaddressed while the monthly bills for living expenses skyrocketed. They went through a succession of facility directors - I think five in one year was the record. One director actually told me that Madison, Indiana was such a miserable place to live that no one wanted to live there.

The employees stole from the residents. They actually caught one trying to cash my mother's check at a local bank. The Jewel House director assured me that it would never happen and accused me of making false accusations....even though I talked to six other residents that also had theft problems. They just said that the elderly didn't always remember where they left their possessions and were always losing things.

I have been working at Jewel place for about a month now & i have never felt more loved or excited as soon as i walk into work. The staff as well as the residents bring such joy to everybody that walks through those doors! They’ve taught me to properly care for the residents as if they were my own family. Anything including cleaning services are always available & in stock for the residents. I can say our staff & team members go above and beyond for the residents. My mother has been a resident at Jewel Place for almost two years. I am very pleased with the care that she receives. The entire staff is very caring and attentive to her needs as well as the other residents. During Covid they adhered to all safety measures to keep all of the residents safe. It was a trying time for everyone but well worth all of the efforts made to keep residents from becoming ill. I have been very impressed with everyone that works there.
