Bob Evans — Restaurant in Madison

I went to eat at around 11:30am on a weekday, not a busy time. My food was okay, not great, but decent enough. However, my meal was ruined by a manager sitting nearby. She was several tables away, but I could hear her every word, as she spoke quite loudly. She shouted at wait staff around her, (even though they each had only, at most, 2 tables) and micromanaged their every move. One server came up, and asked if she was good to go home, since she had only bee scheduled untill 11. The manager asked if someone had come to replace her yet, and when she was told no, she berated the girl who asked and then when asked to call the person who hadn't shown. She loudly declared "Im not going to call people who arn't going to work, you'll have to figure it out" as if the girl on shift, was expected to be in charge or scheduling and hiring of people who didnt show. The final nail in the coffin for us, was when the manager went to check us out, she began our transaction, and then without a word walked off to speak to friends of hers who had just entered the restaurant, she left us standing at the cash register until someone else came to help us several minutes later.

She was an older woman, with grey hair, and I know she has worked there many years, this wasnt the first time I had seen her be extremely rude...

The service in this restaurant has been steadily getting worse and breakfast this morning was the last straw. We were seated quickly, but the table had just been wiped down and was still very wet. So much so that the menus were sticking to the table. When the waitress came to get our drink order I asked if she would wipe it down to dry it off. She stated she had just wiped it down, but would bring us extra napkins. When she brought our drinks out she dropped of some extra napkins so WE could dry off the table. Our food arrived in a reasonable time and I have no complaints on the taste or quality. My brother had almost finished his meal and I had about 1/4 of mine left when the waitress asked if we were done and stood there waiting for the plates. Not liking someone hovering over my shoulder while I eat we let her take our plates eventhough we didn't finish eating. This is just the most recent example of poor service. We have had enough issues before this to make me believe this is a systemic problem and not isolated to one person or one shift. Although I like the food I'd be reluctant to dine...

We got there when it was slower in the evening for them, so they were not that busy at all. The hostess was rude about seating us, and did not grab any silverware when we sat down. We had our two children and there were no kids menus at all. At first our waitress was prompt at getting us our drinks, but then when we ordered our food, she brought out our rolls (which got cold from sitting so long for our food) then disappeared for 45 minutes. When she finally showed back up from her smoke break (based on the fresh smell of cigarette smoke on her). She acted like she forgot our food when she saw our unhappy faces. We were sitting in sight of the kitchen and we could see our food sitting under the heat lamp for a very long time. Our kids ordered piggy pancakes and they were stiff from sitting under the lamp, the gravy on my wife's mashed potatoes had formed a film, her carrots were cold, and my home fries had become soggy along with my eggs were oily. This was the 3rd time in row we gave this location a shot hoping for better service, we were sadly disappointed again. We won't be going back to this Bob...
