I performed a search to find a place that might be able to repair a phone that I had to send back to Verizon or pay $500. I didn't want to send it back with all of my personal information. I knew it was the charging port that had gone out.
I called UbreakitIfix which is the authorized Samsung repair place. The person answering the phone at their answering service advised me that I could pay a service fee and they would install a replacement port so that I could reset my phone. When I got to the facility (40 mile drive) the employee was very hesitant about their ability to do what the person on the phone claimed. Since I had driven that far, he asked me to leave it overnight. When I came back, it looked like they had done nothing. They said that it was the board and couldn't be fixed.
I was very upset at the time and gas wasted. As I was driving away, literally across the street, I noticed The Smartphone Medics. I figured, I was already there...why not give them a shot. I went in and explained the situation.
Chris was very helpful and friendly. He didn't promise that he could fix my phone, but promised that he would try.
I was invited to have a complimentary beverage and relax in a very comfortable waiting area.
About 45 minutes later, my phone was fixed. I will come back. I will jump on the rooftops and yell to everyone about this place. Thank you so much for being honest.
⭐️⭐️⭐️. Update 08/06/25 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
It's now several years later and I have experienced another cellular tragedy. I learned of my mother's rapid decline in health a few months ago and dropped my phone from shock.
It broke the glass that I had paid $100 for and progressively deteriorated the screen. It (sort of) worked until a couple of days ago. It died while I was messaging my brother at the worst possible time. I found my old Samsung A24 and used it but it wasn't the same phone as the S10+ that I had been using for years. Especially the audio. I love my music.
I bought a new S25+ from Verizon and Chris (from Verizon) did everything to port my S10+ over but we couldn't do it because the screen had died. Another emergency. I need that info, especially my contacts and text strings.
What could I do now?
Then I remembered how well I was treated by Chris and the geniuses at Smartphone Medics. They know cellular technology like most of us know our names. I was supremely confident that they could help.
I arrived at the store and was immediately greeted by three huge smiles. They remembered my companion dog and I from several years ago. I was assured that they could help me. More important to me was the reassurance that they made me feel.
I have severe PTSD and was freaking out but the staff alleviated all of my concerns. I will know for sure if they saved my life tomorrow. 🤞
Thanks to Jeff for creating such a positive work environment that encourages such a high level of customer service. I've already forgotten the name of the authorized Samsung repair center across the road.
Austin (pictured below) made sure that Smartphone Medics did, in fact, save my life. The level of customer service that he provided was beyond compare. I made a friend! He's awesome. I do need to mention Reko because he was the genius who put it all together. He really took care of me. I also got to hang out with a former employee turned customer named Dylan who was also...

I originally gave The Smartphone Medics 1 star after being charged $250 for what turned out to be a low-quality aftermarket OLED screen replacement on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. The quote simply said “iPhone 13 Pro Max Screen,” with no mention of the screen being non-genuine or lower-grade. After the repair, my phone showed a “non-genuine part” warning, which only happens when non-Apple components are used.
When I asked about it, I was told, “Apple does that for all repairs,” which was misleading. That warning doesn’t appear with genuine Apple parts.
However, after posting my review, they reached out and offered to replace the screen at no additional cost — this time with a genuine Apple OLED screen. I appreciated the gesture and the effort to make things right, and I’ve raised my rating accordingly.
That said, the initial lack of transparency is still an issue. For $250, I should have been told exactly what kind of part was going into my phone, and been given a choice. Other shops disclose this clearly, and I think The Smartphone Medics should too.
Overall, I’m happy with the final result and appreciate the follow-up. Just be sure to ask what type of part is being installed before you agree to the repair. this is what was original review Overcharged for a Low-Quality Screen Without Full Disclosure
I had my iPhone screen replaced at The Smartphone Medics and was charged $250. What they never mentioned was that they were installing a lower-quality LCD screen, not a genuine Apple OLED. After the repair, my phone displayed a warning saying the screen wasn’t genuine.
When I questioned it, they told me “Apple does that for all repairs,” which is misleading — that warning typically appears when non-genuine parts are used. (this does not happen with genuine screens)
The real issue here is transparency. An LCD screen from a reputable parts provider costs about $89, while a genuine OLED costs around $192. They gave me the cheaper screen but charged me more than the price of an OLED, without ever telling me what I was getting.
For $250, I expected a quality part — not to be misled and overcharged. I won’t be returning, and I’d caution others to ask very specific questions before agreeing to...
Read moreSo to start my phone screen was damaged. Spiderwebbed across the entire screen however the touch portion still worked. This is my personal/work phone that I cannot work without. The phone needed to be repaired quickly. I had full coverage insurance on this phone and my carrier refused to repair the phone due to a hairline crack in one of my rear cameras glass lens that you wouldn't be able to see unless you about held a microscope to it. No damage to the camera itself. So since they will not make the repair they instead try to upsell me to a new phone with a $600 dollar down payment. Completely absurd. I then found Smartphone Medics in Huntsville and gave them a call to see if they could possibly fix the screen. I was greeted on the phone by Caydin. Caydin stated that they did indeed have the parts needed to repair the front screen and to come by and let them have a look at it. Upon arrival I spoke with Austin and he was able to provide me with the information, cost, and breakdown of what was needed to make the repair. They can even fix the rear camera. I was given a quote that was reasonable and was told that the phone would be ready In approximately an hour. The phone was ready in an hour and was in absolute perfect condition. Austin and Caydin were absolutely fantastic. Phenomenal customer service, attitude, and empathy for my situation. I would highly recommend the smartphone medics, along with their employees, Austin and Caydin to anyone needing a repair made to their phone/electronic devices....
