My husband recently bought some clothes from this Academy, and after realizing one of the shirts were too big, we decided to go and try to exchange it. Unfortunately we lost the receipt but since it was just an exchange, we didn't think it would be a big deal. Well, they did not have the shirt anymore, so he found another one he liked that was maybe $5 more. He told the cashier he wanted to pay the difference on it, and she said no problem. But then the amount for the shirt we were exchanging was only $3.. When asking why, she said it was because the shirt was on sale. But they did not have any of the shirts in store, or online when I checked. So how does a shirt go on sale if you dont even have any of them anymore? How is anyone supposed to know the price change if they dont even have the same shirt? She said we could get the same shirt rather than exchanging for a different one and paying the difference, but that was obviously impossible or he would have gotten his correct size in the first place. It was honestly a little offensive to be offered $3 for a shirt that cost $15-20 w/tax. Always keep your receipts ladies...
Read moreWould rate zero stars but not an option. My family and I do alot of shopping at Academy Sports in Madison, Alabama off Highway 72, but that may just come to an end. I was shopping for some ammo today, and noticed sale prices on the shelves. I did the math, and it was a good deal. When I got to the cashier, it rang up as regular price. I told the cashier, and he asked someone to do a price check(which I discovered was just looking at the Academy website). "Price checker" and cashier said the price that rang up was correct. I went back to the shelves and took pictures, and they said they wouldn't honor the in store marked price. I would have just gotten something else that was on sale, but the cashier and manager's attitudes were the total opposite of good customer service. I don't know if they were new, having a bad day, or what. I suspect that they just don't care about their customers. Academy Sports used to be a great place to shop, but they are becoming the Wal-Mart model of customer service. Guess we will have to find somewhere else to...
Read moreIf I could do zero stars I would. The lady that waited on us on 12-22-2021 was very preoccupied with whatever she was eating out of her pocket and was very slow ringing our stuff up. Then asked me three times if my two items were all I had. She seemed off, dont know if she was high or what. Then I showed her my military ID and pointed at me and "we arent doing that right now" I was like ok? Since when do this place not give military discounts?. Because of her poor customer service and eating in front of us and not wiping her hands off, we wont be back.
After 2 yrs of not going to this store, we went back today 11-22-24) bc my son wanted some boots for a new job. Got to the register and the guy was pushing your credit card on us after i already said no, i have enough credits cards, then he says " you can never have enough credit" I told him that was inappropriate and to hurry up with my purchase. Then i showed my military id and he said that ended already. I was whatever....now i know why we dont shop there. Yall need better...
