I've been here 3 times so far. Each has had a different rating, and I would like to point out that although I'm leaving a four star, my partner gave it a 3.
I've only been there with my partner, and the first time was amazing. I was greated with a very nice new lady, and her team lead that was helping her learn the ropes. They were both extremely nice during the visit, and even let me customize my own burger. (Even though it does not say you can on the menu.)
The sides were pretty uneventful. They weren't that flavorful, not were they bad. However, my burger was phenomenal! It was basically a bacon burger, and out of probably 15 different ones, this one is by far my favorite. I don't know their secret, but I'm hoping they never stop doing it!
My partner got a breakfast meal, and he said it was really good. Not amazing, but enough that we'd eventually come back.
The next times I'm going to kinda skip through. Both were different waiters, but idk if it was because they were serving a gay couple or if it was just because we are still young, but overall we didn't feel as welcomed as before. Both times were later in the day so maybe they were just tired as well, but it gives the wrong impression if you don't take a break and then come back with a smile and careing attitude. My food was still really good, but he said his was mediocre the next two times and he isn't wanting to go back. This is dissappointing to me because without him I probably wouldn't make the drive to go back either.
Overall the critism I'd give is that the staff needs to make sure they give their customers a warm and pleasant introduction that lasts throughout the meal. They should also keep in touch with the customers without becoming annoying to them, but enough to have the customer know they care.
The next would be more options! They do not even have an option to add pickles on my burger, which is just sacrilege... Sides need some improvement as well. Flavor and the...
Read moreIn my life I can thankfully say I'm proud of many things, for example: I'm proud to be an American, a dedicated Christian, A Southern Gentleman and here lately I'm proud to be a Frequent GUEST of Metro Diner in Madison. There are many things to illustrate, however let me call attention to a few key moments I've witnessed here recently.
As you approach the entrance there are a pair of Ficus trees flanking the doorway. These phenomenal thriving horticulture exhibits of nature are simply breathtaking. Once inside staff members are top notch. There is a tall lad, a hippie looking kid, who is very attentive to incoming customer traffic at the ToGo Order section. In addition, I've placed orders with a gal (Jenny maybe) While at first she may come off as brash, once this kitten revs up she begins to showcase her knowledge of menu items, specials, and even condiments are vast & quite detailed. You want service well look no further than one of the hostess, Rose perhaps, marching around the diner seating guests & giving orders like Stalin at a May Day Parade in Red Square. She keeps things in very good order from my observations.
The food is fresh! The food is timely!! Most important the food is just downright tasty!!! Crisp lettuce, juicy fruits, HOT coffee, tender meats, fluffy biscuits, creamy potatoes make Metro Diner in Madison a regular stop.
I encourage MGT to take a few moments give a tip of the cap to all the great service workers and kitchen staff.
I know the MGT crew at Metro Diner in Madison really know their stuff........THAT MUCH IS OBVIOUS
I must say, I am...
Read moreToday is one of the worst restaurant experience we’ve ever had. It was so bad, we walked out an hour and a half later without being served food. We talked highly about Metro Diner to friends of ours over the last few weeks, so we finally invited them to go to lunch the day after thanksgiving. There are 4 of us who arrived at Metro Diner around 11:15 am. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Immediately the server came over and asked what we wanted to drink and welcomed us. It took them about 10-15 minutes to get the four of us drinks. At that time when the drinks arrived, we ordered our food. A half an hour later, we realized the table that was seated after us was already eating their food and we still have not been served. At this point, we were unable to flag down our waitress, so we inquired to the closest waitress. After they investigated it, a different server came back to us apologizing saying that they were going to pickup the tab for our meals. We continued to wait for an additional 20 minutes and still did not get our food. At this point, we decided enough is enough. We let them know that we weren’t happy with the service that we have received today and decided to go somewhere else to eat. After reflecting on it, it seems like the servers weren’t communicating and we fell through the cracks. It is very disappointing that we had to experience this bringing our friends there the very first time. I don’t believe our friends or us will be returning to Metro Diner anytime soon. There are other restaurants that serves good food and offer good customer service at...
