My out of town experience was spectacular. Brief synopsis, Ted helped me select the perfect ring in my price range and made sure the entire process was flawless. My whole story continues below but simply know if you are an out of town shopper and are afraid to buy online Ted makes it so that you won't regret doing so. My advice and tips are in the last paragraph.
I knew I wanted to propose to my girlfriend in the near future but didn't really have a set date in mind. However when we decided to do a weekend Wine Country getaway I knew it was the perfect time. I knew that she wanted a Verragio ring but my local jeweler only had a couple in stock and they were all out of my price range without doing a custom order that would take 2 months to arrive. After looking around online and to other jewelers in neighboring cities I had all but given up on my search and was about to accept that I would have to either go with a different brand or delay the proposal. Then I finally came across TQ Diamonds and decided I would do a quick chat and assumed they would be like every other online jeweler that I spoke to and tell me that they only have a limited stock and a custom order wouldn't make it in time, but not TQ. Ted was prompt and courteous and told me to call him when I got a chance and so I did. He told me that he had a way to expedite the process and guaranteed my custom order would arrive before our planned trip! My only reservation at this point was that I didn't want to order the center diamond online without seeing it first (even though I don't exactly know what I would be looking for anyway) But Ted quickly responded with a honest answer and guarantee that made it so I was willing to trust him. He told me "Chris, I will find you the best diamond we have in that price range because honestly I want you to be happy and until you are it only means I will have to work harder because I do not allow any of my customers to be dissatisfied, but if for some reason you do not like it I will allow you to send it back to me until you are satisfied at no cost to you. So it is in my best interest because I am a very busy man to make sure that the ring is perfect" I was humbled by the honesty and confidence he showed that I figured there was no way I wouldn't give it a shot. Well as he promised the ring was perfect, she loves it and everything went smooth and flawless.
The only advice I would have if you are considering buying like it did (online, over the phone) is to make sure that you know what size ring she wears or make sure that there is an Authorized Verragio jeweler in your town. TQ was willing to resize it for free, only expense to me was to pay for shipping. Well for me I didn't realize how expensive it would be to ship with $10k insurance. It would've been $200 to send it back! Luckily I was able to talk to my local jeweler and they resized it for us for around $20.

After literally months of researching diamonds online/offline and speaking with local jewelers, I came to the conclusion that I wanted a Tacori ring, and I wanted a specific diamond. I went to multiple high-end jewelers in my local and surrounding areas to obtain quotes for the specific ring and diamond; however, the prices were unreasonable, and I was not receiving the customer service that I felt warranted my business. This led me to at least explore alternative solutions in the online space. I must admit that I was somewhat skeptical of the whole online buying process, but I realized that I didn't know any of the jewelers in my town any more than someone over the internet.
So, I searched for Tacori dealers in the US and came across Tim online. When I visited his website, I noticed that there was a chat with a jewelry expert capability, so I said, "what the heck." The individual on the other end of the chat session was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable, so I asked him/her were they were located (thinking this was one of the best trained outsourced people ever); he typed Madison, WI. ( It was Tim himself.) That's correct... the owner of the store was up at 1 AM speaking with me about a very personal and monumental decision. It is difficult to find customer service in person, let alone, experience a high level of it from an owner willing to answer a laundry list of detailed questions in the middle of the night via e-chat. This impressed me immediately, and I scheduled a time to discuss things via telephone later that week. When Tim and I had our first verbal conversation, he was nothing but helpful, professional and candid with me. I purposefully gave him multiple times to upsell me, and he wouldn't do it. Being a business man myself, I could see that Tim is more interested in the relationship development than the sale. He understands that if you build a relationship and treat a person fairly and with respect, the business will come. Ultimately, Tim was helpful throughout the entire process and proactively kept me apprised of where we were in the process. When I had questions, he was quick to respond.
In the end, I received the most amazing Tacori ring I could have ever imagined, and my girlfriend (now fiancé) said yes to my proposal! She couldn't be happier with the ring, and it is truly a sight to behold. I would undoubtedly work...
Read moreI purchased my engagement set from Kay- which was a huge mistake to begin with. After one day of wearing it, one of my main diamonds became loose. I guess it happens right? I took it into Kay because I purchased the warranty as well. The disrespect I received made me want to put my ring in the box and not even wear it (to keep the stone from getting lost). They told me it would be 2 weeks to get it fixed. Absolutely not.
I did some research and found TQ. I called ahead asking about the express same day service they offer, and if I could bring my ring in. They said yes.
I drove from about 45 minutes away to take it there. After the experience I had with Kay I was hesitant about any jeweler. Sally, the store manager, put me to ease. I haven’t felt more comfortable at a jewelry store ever. She wasn’t trying to sell me on anything. She listened to exactly what I said and responded appropriately. She saw I was scared and afraid of leaving my ring, and she even brought out the goldsmith that would be working on my jewelry to talk to me. Again, someone else who made me feel not only welcomed, but like my jewelry was precious, even though I didn’t purchase it there. I decided to leave it and was called after about 3 hours with it being ready. They explained exactly what was done, checked all of the diamonds in both of my rings (I have A LOT), cleaned them and handed them to me. I am finally wearing the ring that I was so excited to have. AND the best part- it only costed half of what they quoted.
They have earned a customer for life. I will always take my jewelry there from this moment forward, and will now only purchase from them as well. I have started the process to add another band already, and couldn’t be more excited.
I highly recommend them. I am a very skeptical person, I don’t trust very many people. But, if I ever had to leave my ring somewhere again, that is the only place it is going. Their repair process from beginning to end, along with their customer service is superior to any jewelry store I have been to.
