Extra Space Storage — Local services in Mahwah

After procrastinating for 2 weeks, I finally used the online feature and rented a unit! The process was quick and extremely easy! I received my access code and unit number right way and since the confirmation email tells you to go within 24 hours to lock your unit, I went to the facility. I am so glad that the office was still open when I got there because the place is HUGE! Andrew Fondanarosa, the Assistant Store Manager was great! He was just finishing up my paperwork when I went in to ask for directions so he knew right away who I was. Rather than just giving me some general directions, Andrew actually jumped into his golf cart and had me follow him to my unit (yes - the place is THAT big)! We did have a slight problem with my access code not working so after making sure that I got in the building and that the unit was clean and what I expected, Andrew went back to the office to deal with the code issue. The storage space itself is not an issue - there is easy access, the cart is always available, and I have not had any issues with safety going late at night, etc. The low rating is because the rate is increased by a ridiculous amount of money approx. every six months. I am now being charged about 3x what I signed up for, only about two years ago. The increase does not reflect an increase in service, it's literally the same exact space that requires zero maintenance. I understand increases are common, but there is no reasonable explanation for increasing the monthly fee THAT MUCH and THAT OFTEN. I will be removing all my items and finding a more reasonable storage facility as quickly as possible. So frustrating to take advantage of people who may not be able to move their items so quickly. Shame on you.
