How Walgreens gets away with having the broken prescription refill system it has, is beyond me. I gave up and switched my prescriptions to another pharmacy after having been a loyal customer since Walgreens opened here in Malden. My 92 year old aunt still has her prescriptions there. I ran into a systemic issue trying to get her prescriptions filled and the response from the person on the phone was,โif I cancel the current refill request in order to simply check to see if it could be refilled earlier, the prescription may be purged from the systemโ. This is exactly what happened to me that prompted me to abandon Walgreens with my own prescriptions. At least I was given a warning this time, for my auntโs refill. When my refill was purged I was met with a stone wall of ignorance from not a tech, but the actual pharmacist on duty. I asked how my prescription could just disappear and she shrugged and walked away. This was late night, btw, with no obvious pressing needs requiring her to blow me off without resolving my problem. An underlying issue is with the off sighting of refills to a central fulfillment location. It has become difficult to get a refill or even a new prescription on the same day. Today I was told my 92 year old auntโs prescriptions would be ready in 48 hours. I asked the automated phone system to get them earlier and 24 hours was as soon as they could get them. My aunt had forgot about her refills, she is 92 after all, and she only realized today she was taking her last doses. So I attempted to talk to a human being to see if the prescriptions could get filled today. All these prescriptions are common drugs, nothing specialty, btw. 2 prescriptions were set to be filled in 90 minutes and the third was in this state of being purged if an attempt was made to modify its refill date. I suggest others with issues do as I am about to do an file a complaint with the board of registration for pharmacies in Massachusetts. Just google the board of registration and go to the website to file a complaint. This nonsense needs to be addressed. How for decades this wasnโt an issue and now is, is clearly indicative of a systemic issue that Walgreens needs to be forced to address by the board of pharmacy...
ย ย ย Read moreThis location has SO much potential. It's at a convenient spot, has SO many (albeit expensive) products, a big pharmacy, and a little photo department. But have you ever had an experience with the staff at a location that leaves you thinking "how the f** did they ever get a customer facing job?!" Cause..
I recently had to pick up a Western Union transfer at this location. I read that it was self serve online, and thought ok that shouldn't be very difficult to navigate. I was so wrong.
I went to the register with a few items, checked out, and inquired with the two people behind the register where I could access the WU interface and just for general directions on getting my transfer. I swear they looked at me like I grew a second head and that head threw up all over the floor while screaming like a banshee.
I had to repeat myself twice, and got a mumbled response while they pointed at the photo section. Nothing else.
Head to the photo section (a few steps away from the registers), and the woman kind of stared at me when I said I had to get a WU transfer, then pointed to the computers next to the photo section. Still, no clear directions at all.
I sit down at the computer, enter in my information, and the previous individual comes up behind me and asks how much I'm getting the transfer for. I reply and she disappears.
Ok now at this point I've filled out the information, submitted it, and I'm not sure if my two heads and I should just start running in circles or what. There isn't a soul to ask for clearer instructions from, so I go back to the two people at the registers, who just point to the customer service button at the photo section and say I need to get someone there.
So to end this story - someone comes back, asks for my ID and what should have been a 5 minute process had I been given clear directions on the process, took me closer to 20 and left my head just reeling in circles.
If you need to get a WU transfer here, I'll make it easy for you: Head to the photo section, utilize a computer, then go to the photo desk and give them your information. They don't finalize transfers at...

Tonight my wife sat 15 mins waiting to speak to the pharmacy they hung up the phone when she hit the queue.
When I called the store the person who answered said they were just check out, when I asked to speak to the manager the person speaking amazingly became the manager.
This person is awful and proves my point that employees often imitate the attitude of the manager when dealing with customers.
If the manager values customers you will see, it will be revealed in their customer service. If they view customers as an inconvenience it will also be revealed in their service.
I know that it's very hard post covid to find employees, I hope though you can do better.
When I told him there was no need to be rude he hung up on me.
If Walgreens goes out of business it will be no surprise, this behavior has me looking at any alternative. Including online pharmacies.
