Came on a whim after a visit to Walgreens. We hesitated to drop in coz it was 30 mins to closing and was worried the food wouldn't be fresh. We were wrong, food was fresh and good!
Got the Combo and Sausage Bahn mi's. Also got the grilled chicken over rice per the owners recommendation. All were tasty. Portion-wise, the bahn mi's are on the lighter side. Portion makes sense though considering the price. I wish they had options to add pate or that viet mayo-butter, which I am not sure was in the bahn mi flavors we got.
The chicken over rice was a huge portion. The box is deceiving as it filled up 2 plates when we got home.
Too bad we didn't get to try the Cha Gio as they ran out. We had a nice chat with the owner who is friendly, he shared a tip to come before 2pm for Cha Gio.
Prices are super affordable. We would definitely be back.
Update 6/2023 We still frequent this place for Bahn Mi. So glad their prices and quality of food is still great. Not sure but the bread seems different. It used to have a crunchier skin now it has a chewy first bite. We usually get S1 Combination Pork when we want the usual and expected flavors. S9 BBQ Pork is great when you want a burst of asian flavor. It's got a sauce with aromatics that is quite unique to DP subs. They have the same BBQ pork over rice but it doesn't shine as well with rice, probably the combination of pickles and the sauce is missing in the rice plate? S2 BBQ Chicken Bahn Mi is good too but for this, we prefer the rice plate version.
I had to eat soft food at one point and ventured to try other things on the menu. N1 Bun Rieu is good, nice portion. We got it to go and noticed the soup had icy bits in the container. Pre-cooked and frozen, which we don't mind but this would have been upsetting if eating at a place without a microwave to heat it back up. Zapped it up and great, some crab, good meatballs and soup. Also tried N3 Congee. I've never had congee at Vietnamese places so didn't know what to expect. It was okay for me. The broth seems to be made from a more native chicken? coz it had a gamey aroma. I'm not used to it but just added some more ginger and garlic to help me get over the aroma. Congee was comforting. It is more similar to Chicken Rice soup than say Cantonese congee as the rice bits are larger.
Adding pics this time. Grabbing Bahn Mi here is our go to when being indecisive on...
Read moreI ordered the combination pork bahn mi and the spring rolls for delivery midday on a Wednesday. Sadly, both were disappointing. The bread for the bahn mi was dry/stale and all I could taste was ham and mayo. I thought it was supposed to have fish sauce, but I could not taste that nor the fresh herbs (one small sprig of cilantro). It included a generous amount of pork which is good, but that’s basically all I could taste. The spring rolls were mostly shredded iceberg lettuce with, again, almost no fresh herbs. The shrimp in the rolls was cooked well (tender, not rubbery), and the dipping sauce they come with is delicious, but the rolls by themselves had zero flavor. Overall the price was reasonable, the delivery was quick, and my order was correct, but I probably won’t order again because the flavors weren’t...
Read moreI recently discovered this restaurant on my DoorDash app and decided to give it a try. The food here is both authentic and affordable. I particularly enjoyed their sandwich; it was incredibly fresh with a delightful chewy texture to the bread. The vegetables were crisp, and the BBQ Beef was bursting with flavor. I highly recommend this place as I believe anyone would find something they enjoy on the menu. The Banh Cuon was especially fresh and delicious! Moreover, their Bun Bo Hue stands out as one of the best in Boston. Having sampled many versions at various restaurants, I can confidently say this place prepares it exceptionally well. The flavors are truly delightful. Despite living 15 miles away, I find the journey worthwhile, and ordering through DoorDash for delivery is also convenient. I look forward...
